According to VGcharts, the latest Crystal Chronicles game has only sold 140,000 units. That's quite low for such a big name attached to it. I doubt Square Enix is too happy about this. I own the title and while a bit shallow, I applaud their experimental approach to game design. It had smart motion controls making every battle and minigame a blast. I do wish the core story was longer as it didn't flesh out the four tribes nearly as much as I expected. It is a great game though and definitely deserves better sells.

That's no problem to the millions of Wii owners out there. You forget, we're a minority. Also, unlike so many collections, the minigames were fun and consistant, all based around a simple core mechanic. Tedium was minimal.

It has not been out a month yet. It has time to build on them sales. Not a game I am interested in, but you really cannot base total sales on 3 weeks on the market.
Well, yeah, and it was released on a stupid day like 12/26. A name brand like Final Fantasy should have made it before Christmas. That would also have gotten some of the people waiting on Final Fantasy XIII to buy.

It's not a minigame fest, people just call it that because they don't know what else to called side moments in a game. Think of Silent Hill for the Wii when you get attacked, but each time you're doing something different.
There's only like 10-15 events like this.
Also the reviews for the game probably aren't helping, which I understand. Most reviewers are retarded in which they demand new and original games, then give them a low score and remakes of older games high scores. I can see the issues with the game and why some people wouldn't like it, but it seems like many people aren't giving it a chance at all. I personally think it's an 8/10 and deserves a purchase. It's deeper than pretty much every review has said, it's beautiful and fun.
But I fear the sales will still be crap for whatever reason and Square will be the next one to say we're not gonna bother trying anymore like Sega, Capcom and EA.
It came out at a bad time. Normally people would get it with money they got from Christmas, but the majority of that would have gone to New Super Mario Bros Wii since it would be hard to find just before Christmas. It will also take a month or so for people to get money again. Either situation is possible, one may be more likely depending on your age.

True.
Also, like you said, it should be selling more because it is a big name. Casual gamers wouldn't know the name.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

That means double the sells then. People buy because it's Final Fantasy in name alone. Casuals buy it because the game itself looks interesting. Of course, if it's only casuals then it will take a while for the sells to pick up and in that case, your right about the minigame thing being somewhat of a turn off for the core. That and only average Metacritic scores.

FFCC:CB and SH are two of the most original Wii games this year IMO. You also have to take that Sega, EA, Capcom, now Ubi stuff with a grain of salt as they aren't always spoken by true company heads, especially Capcom's statements.

Not true. Even casuals know the name, they just don't play it as much. I think the big problem is that no Crystal Chronicles game is received well, and people know that. Why shell out 50 bucks for a spin-off franchise that never really got off the ground?

Nearly everyone I know has never heard of Final Fantasy.

I'm pretty sure casuals don't use the internet for gaming news, so I doubt that they would think it looks interesting other than the box art, and that looks really bad. The "core gamers" mostly wouldn't buy it because Crystal Chronicles games don't usually get good reviews, including this one.

It just shows that no matter how good the game is, third party Wii games sells are horrible. If this keeps up, most third parties will abandon the Wii when it comes to real games. Which reminds me, I need to buy Crystal Bearers.
People who actually play the game enjoy it. It's a quality title, and it's a shame that its gotten the negativity that it has. 140,000 may be a low number, but it's not as terrible as some, especially since it's been out three weeks (not that I really have any optimism about it being a million seller or anything).
(Side note - did we need another Crystal Bearers thread? The Unofficial one has posts similar to this already).

Really? It's the opposite for me. Even the non-gamers I know have at least HEARD of it.
