I want a controller to play certain Wii games like Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Mario Kart Wii. I want something to play virtual console games as well. I want mostly SNES, and N64 games. But I don't know which controller or controllers to get. I can get one of two options :
CLASSIC CONTROLLER PRO: $40 with shipping.
White GAMECUBE CONTROLLER and CLUB NINTENDO SUPER FAMICOM CONTROLLER: $100 with shipping.

I think having the white gamecube controller with the club nintendo super famicom controller is probably the best setup. But is it worth spending more than twice as much of what a classic controller pro would cost?

the pro is coming out this april and will only be $20 to buy domestically, so if you're in the US i'd say wait instead of importing. it's a great controller and is hands down the best choice for 2D games, so for most VC games it'll work well. mariokart and n64 games (and 3D games in general) will do better with the gamecube controller. it's up to you to figure out which perspective you spend more time in.

in my own opinion the super famicom isn't worth that cost. i grew up on snes, i still have one functioning with it's original controller, and even i think the pro is a slightly better choice. the handles are extra comfortable, the bottom texture keeps you from losing grip, and it just feels good in general. the snes is a great one too, and if you've got the money and just have to have a replica for the sake of nostalgia, go for it. but in terms of pure function, the pro has the edge. they're both the same controller at their core, so looking at the price difference between them value is another clear win for the pro.

Why don't you get the classic controller AND Monster Hunter Tri? Sounds like an amazing deal to me. C:

For SNES games, i'd get a Wii SNES Retro Port from Retrousb.com. Or just get the original classic controllers...although it's L and R buttons are squishy and are terrible for SNES games.

It's a new official white Gamecube controller with a 2.5 metre long cord and exclusive to Japan; the other controller is a special edition Classic Controller that's made to look like a Super Famicom pad -- that's why it's so expensive.

Personally I've got a white Gamecube Controller (good for non-arcade Gamecube games) and a CC Pro -- I don't regard one as a replacement for the other, so really I'd get those. The SNES CC is a luxury item -- really depends on how much you fancy having a Classic Controller without thumbsticks on it!

If you want a Gamecube controller can't you find a used one? I guess it depends where you live. The Gamecube controller isn't the best for SNES games but it can be purchased for pretty cheap. The upside of the white version is the longer cord which might be a better option since the original ones are really short. I picked up a bunch of Wavebirds for $20 each over the past year.

I like the SNES controller but the price is more than I'd want to pay for what it is. The cost to make it must be far cheaper than the classic controller.
