I've recently joined pretty much everyone who's ever played RE4 on the Wii in realizing that it's probably one of the best titles ever for the system. You may remember my "RE4 Stole My Weekend" thread a couple of weeks back, and well, I'd be lying if I said it hasn't stole quite a few hours since. But enough of all that about RE4...
How about RE5? I've been reading a lot on forums here and there, and there's no definitive answer on whether it will be released. Some argue it is too graphically intense for our poor little Wiis to handle, while others argue that not even the visually stunning RE4 pushes the Wii to its limits, so while it might not meet the standards of the 360 and the PS3, RE5 on the Wii could look even better than RE4. Hell, I'd be happy if it looked the same.
I personally believe (and hope like hell!) that we will eventually see RE5 on the Wii. RE4 Wii sold very well, but they may want to wait on RE5 'til they sell more units on the HD systems before releasing it for the Wii. So, what say you all? Anyone care to take a stab at the odds we'll see RE5 Wii Edition?
I just ordered Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition should have it on Monday ! I do not know if it will ever happen but it would be kind of cool after seeing great reviews for it across the board. Capcom does love to port games. Someone at Capcom was asked the question if we would see it on the Wii and they neither confirmed or denied. I am not a huge Resident Evil fan but I am hoping RE4 Wii changes that.
Given the way Capcom has toss the idea of RE5 Wii around, I'd say it's kinda of unlikely. Then again no one thought Tatsunoku Vs. Capcom would be coming to the west. So I wouldn't count against it just yet.
Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition is a great game and all, but after playing RE5 on 360, I don't think it can be done and still be fun. Before all of you lynch me, just hear me out. RE4 Wii is probably not pushing the system that hard seeing as how it "pushed the GameCube" and the Wii is supposed to be 1.5 times more powerful. But RE5 has so much going on at once that the challenge is to stop the zombie horde that seems to attack from everywhere. I used to think if you just shove it into the RE4 engine it would be okay, but RE4 did not have a partner system like RE5 and that is something that could be the problem. Plus once you play RE5 online in co-op with a friend the game goes from being a good game to being a great game. Like with everything else in life though you never know what might happen. But then again look at what happened to Dead Rising when it got ported over

I wish!! But it ain't gonna happen IMO.Much more likely that we'll get a spin off or suchlike.Though if its as good as RE4 I'd be a happy monkey. I've heard mixed reviews of RE5 but I'll probably try it out on my 360 (or the dust gatherer / heater as I like to call it) if I see it cheap.
No, it won´t be ported for Wii. Capcom would have to remake about everything from scratsch, and since the RE railshooters sell like crazy, they don´t see any need for that. We get Darkside Cronicles instead, tough but that´s the way it is.
By the way RE5 is a pretty good game. I had fun playing co-op, but the game doesn´t make it to my personal top-100 ever
Capcom said that depsite what they previously thought it would probably be possible to port Resident Evil 5 to the wii, but they would have to make some changes like removing co-op. But having said that they could doesnt mean they would because face it we are living in a multi-console generation and a large portion of Resident Evil playing wii owners will also own either the PS3 or 360 so I doubt it would be worth porting a watered down version of a title they already own. Mabey a spin off title using the RE4 engine instead of an on the rails shooter may be a good investment, I would imagine a game running parralell to resident evil 5 wouild please exsisting RE5 owners and unsatisfied wii only owners wanting a real RE game.

Resident Evil 5 needs to be done on the Wii in one form or another. Even if it's slightly cut down - fewer enemies on screen etc. So far the entire Resident Evil series is available on the Wii except for this final chapter - and even worse, the final chapter is available on the 360 but none of the others are.
For people who are fans of the Resident Evil series such as myself, it's extremely frustrating to have the entire story on your console minus the last chapter. People will say "if you're such a fan, why not get a 360?" - well I really don't want another machine cluttering up TV area for one game. The Resident Evil series was released on the GameCube for a reason - they wanted all chapters on one machine - to change that now does nothing but anger everyone who followed the series on the GameCube from beginning to end only to be denied more when the next gen came along.
Well, RE5 in its 360 state can't be ported to Wii, as it's far too demanding for the system. There could be a version done like the Wii version of Dead Rising with gimped graphics and online, but that probably wouldn't happen for some time.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a stripped down Wii-port sometime next year.
That being said, as much as i LOVED RE4 -- played through it multiple times both on the 'Cube and Wii; one of those "i just finished, time to start again!" games -- i hated RE5 (at least in the limited amount of playtime i put into it). Not even really sure why -- it's clearly a solid game, graphically amazing, yadda yadda. But ugh, RE5 made me a sad panda. Just a personal taste thing i guess; don't throw garbage at me now!

RE4 is one of my top 10 favorite games. I can play that game all the time. Also, at the South Park reference.
The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.
Shpydar & Shadx, as veterans of RE4, can you tell me a little bit about Separate Ways, Assignment Ada, and Mercenaries? I'll play them all, and know that there are some items in the main game that get unlocked if you complete them or reach a certain status (e.g. 5 stars in Mercs). But what I'd like to know are things like are Ada's weapons carried over from one play to the next in SW the way Leon's are when you complete your first play through? Also, are games in SW, AA, and Mercs saved in the same typewriter as the core RE4 savegames? If so, I'll do RE4 normal in slots 1-5, pro level in 6-10, SW in 11-15, and AA & Mercs in 16-20.
I started SW last night but didn't take it too seriously. Did more of a speed run and got to chapter 3. Didn't save it though - I'll do it right next time around.
I'd love RE5 for the wii. But like people are saying, IF ot happens, it'd probably be a slightly dumbed down special "wii edition game" (which would be fine by me because such a game would STILL be awesome).
However, as I see it, we're getting Darkside Chronicles as our compensation. Didn't they re-make resident evil zero for the wii recently too? I'm not sure the controls quite worked for that one. I believe that's part of our "compensation" too. This suggest to me that we won't be getting RE5.
