Considering the rumors that the 3DS is much more powerful than the Wii, Nintendo themselves might unintentionally make the Wii look like a piece of of obsolete equipment.

Oh I'm not absolving Nintendo (or any other company) of being guilty of the same thing. Just explaining why it's not worth saying who will/won't look like a pile of crap at E3 or anywhere. The hardware means absolutely zippo without anything worth playing with it. The Wii took me an extraordinarily long time to warm up to; I waited for the library to grow and make it worth while.

And Nintendo, as I mentioned above, is in the same boat with their 3DS. I don't care how fantastic the technology is...I still have no reason to believe it's going to lead to anything fun. I'm far more interested in the games this time around than in any kind of limp tech demonstration (cf: last year's Natal debacle that some folks, for some bizarre reason, still think went well).

I'm not saying Nintendo isn't guilty of the same thing...it's just that with the topic phrased the way it is, any response to the contrary appears to be more in the big N's favor than it's meant to be.

Quite. The Wii 2 will absolutely have to have HD visuals. Especially if the 3DS will be as powerful as the Wii. Motion controls alone won't cut it anymore, especially with the competitors motion controls being more accurate than the Wii's. Although I doubt Nintendo has any reason to fear Natal. If you watched this video, you probably know Natal won't be the most ...... "cool" thing to be doing ...... http://www.hotbloodedgaming.com/2010/06/05/this-woman-makes-m...

Ah, gotcha. No disagreement there. It's a shame 3D TVs are so expensive. I'd be much more willing to be excited for a 3D Wii than a DS. I have to wonder how exciting it can be to have images pop up on such tiny screens, even if the software is great.

People keep seeming to forget about Wii's awesome upcoming RPGs and there's also the Sora Project and Retro's project.

Agreeing with Chicken here, last year, Sony and Microsoft mainly showed off hardware with just a bunch of not-so-meaty trailers. Move was just a meh for me and the Natal demo looked a lot more like a fiasco than a success to me.
What did Nintendo show? Piece after of piece of great software! New games with most of the ones reviewed so far getting good scores and recommendations. Only hardware they showed was the Vitality Sensor, which was the only new game-related hardware concept shown.

Why is it you'll glance over Vitality Sensor (which was easily the least interesting part of all the presentations combined, even Natal), but not Natal or Move? Microsoft and Sony had just as much good software on display.

Mm, but this is a Nintendo site. We don't take too kindly to "other companies" round here. Or atleast no one else does.

I think the only thing Nintendo needs to do is End E3 with a vision Of what the next Nintendo Consule will be like with hint's it might be ready by 2011.

I think thats what were going to see.
I hope Move and Natal are going to be great hardware, but its still going to end up to be the same thing as Wiimote+theaddon.
Yay!!!

Dont worrie about Nintendo.
Will be getting a tone of hardcore games from here on up until the next nintendo Consule even if they all flop and don't sell a singule copy. Its Nintendo's way of telling Sony and Xbox. If you go after our user base will go after yours, have you noticed nintendo has left the Twine Consules Market alone most of the time never atking it directly. Thats why they never went HD.
Well thats done and over with now. Its also the reason They are making the 3DS. Its Nintendo saying, You go after our user base will piss on your 3D cake plans.

(Sony has really big plans for 3D just so you know)

When you finally get bored with your Move. come and check out all the really hardcore games you will be missing out on.
Cheers to all gamers!!! I Wuv games.

Hey look! a comment from 2007!
......

seriosuly, 4 years of motion controls and the competition (badly) copying them and you still call them a fad? get over it!

I'm not interested in it myself, but I'm also not interested in the Wii remote, so that's not surprising either. One of my Wii remotes is broken and doesn't recognize motion input, and yet unless I want to play BIt Trip Beat, that controller works just fine for just about every game I play. But Sony is sure to have strong titles other than the shameless Sports Resort rip-off. The next SOCOM supposedly plays decent with it.

The WiiMote works brilliantly for some games though, like Metroid Prime 3 and Resident Evil 4 and of course Nintendo's own Wii Sports games. It's just too bad there's so much shovelware out there that doesn't have you doing much beyond "waggling" the WiiMote about.

Get over what? I hardly see how the competition is "badly" copying them. Both new controllers promise greater range of motion detection. Maybe you don't believe they'll work as promised, but if you're already decided on it, that's something for you to get over, not me.

The Wii remote didn't do what it was supposed to, either; hence the terrible realization in games like Red Steel and the need for Wii M+. Aside from the Wii series, the games that people bought would have been bought anyway, motion controls or no. Twilight Princess proved that "four years ago."

@Vio
Well, I haven't played Resident Evil 4, but as for as Prime 3, I hated all the motion control. They'd make you twist it for no practical reason other than to show that you can twist the Wii remote. The IR worked great, of course, but I owned a Super Scope, so this isn't brand new to me, though the motion sensor of course smoothes out the IR response.

There aren't a lot of traditional games that lend themselves practically to motion control, just racing games and shooting games, some sports games if you simplify it to not need player movement like Wii Sports. Maybe M+ will change things, but it hasn't been used much so far, so I don't consider it to be far ahead of the competition in regards to the more precise motion control these controllers aim to provide.

Or because nintendo's E3 sucked so much the previous years showing 3 games and the announcement for one is good enough for us.

@Chicken... Im glad to see that your not closed minded like so many here are. Im not even replying to half of the comments here. If you havent looked for the Move games then you wouldnt know, but there are around 60+ games now confirmed for the system. Many of them do in fact look promising from the tidbits that have been revealed and from hands on play time from some magazines/internet sites. Its looking to be very well supported (not suprising as Sony and Third Parties have always had nothing but incredible relationships, being why I buy all Sony systems) by Third Parties and more jumping on board. Where a bid difference lies is that Sony has much tougher regulation/quality standards on game releases and have stated many times now that the casual games will in fact be on Move but the Shovelware will Not.

.... oh and Nintendo is one of the worst for not supporting periphials. Im sorry that is about the only thing I dont agree with you about at all. Balance Board, Vitality Sensor, Power Glove, Power Pad, etc. Just a few games to periphial.

This is the big thing that nobody here seems to get. Sony Move is a Add-On! Its not the systems core gaming concept and never will be and Sony has confirmed that on multiple occasions. Its an additional periphial to expand the gamers on the platform. How can that be a bad thing? I hear a lot of "Sony is trying to get casuals from Nintendo". Guess what... they have had casual support for years. Buzz and Singstar are two franchises that have sold millions of copies of the games and are casual games. Many people have the system for entertainment purposes, PC (printing, faxing, etc) BluRay and Internet Surfing, etc. These are the ones who play these casual games (well made casual games) and they are the target by Move. They already own the system, and this will expand there gaming on the system as well. There will also be Some Hardcore Support, but Sony has clearly stated that isnt the primary focus of Move, they know us hardcore gamers very well and know we want what we got in the PS3, and have promised to continue serving us great PS3 games with Move as a extra.

I dont know about anyone else, but I like nice little extras! You Nintendo Fans really like your WiiFit, Zapper, Motion Plus, etc. Whats the difference? None, your gettting quality games and that is what matters, if you want to deny that and stay loyal to one company. Best to you, have fun. Ill own them all and get the best of all of it, and skip all the nonsense whinning that goes on here everyday now.

FYI.... I own a Black Wii, DS Lite (2), DSi, Micro, GBA, GBA SP and on and on.... Ive been a Nintendo gamer since the NES released and will always be a Nintendo fan. Hope the best of luck to Nintendo at this years E3 cause Sony is going to give them a heck of a lot of competion this year. Bottom line to that, the more competition Nintendo has the more they will push to better there games and consoles. If you only had one company, they would have no desire to continually inovate and create the absolute best they can. Sonys Move is actaully a great thing for gamers and Nintendo as well. But most of you here will never understand that more than likely.

My previous post in this thread defending the Wii against the title should tell you that Im a Nintendo fan, but more than anything.... Im a gamer!

I think we all know there is a War raging in the gaming world atm and its reflecting here on the forums. I like to look at companys i support and pick one i like that has a vision of what gaming could be. a company that give place for small software companys to grow and expand for real talent and creative games to be produced.

I just think Nintendo has a better vision of what i want the consule gaming enviroment to be. They have open the door to so many new games i never thought id ever play in my life. A really open minded vision.

Now you have Sony that has a really hate driven ad campgne going on ATM so that s not really helping the forums, but i gess they need to brainwash there userbase to hate Nintendo and i think thats taking it a bit to far. Whats sad is its working a great deal.

I think making games is really long and hard, and most dont see this. Its easy to imagine a game. But then will it out of nothing is a hole diffrent thing.

Motion controls is still very new and its natural it will fail at some things. But if you look at what they were making on the SNEs and what they can do now. Just go watch the Angry nintendo nurd for 1 houre and your going to say. Holly cow !!! our games are awesom!!!!!!!
Ya i think alot of the motion games are not that fun. just like alot of platformers when it just got popular really had 0 fun to it.
All you need is a software company willing to drop millions of dollars into making good games that work. and 15 years from now they will have motion games that will blow you away.

Now personaly I can't stand the Freezing and blocking and shutdowns and Errors of games today. I use to only own a PC for the longest of time, and moved to the Wii cause of its dlc Free BS were games publish unfinished with Known issuse and patch them after the fact that you bought the crap.

@#!* I hate that

This just in. PS3 getting sued for 5 million after Final Fantasy XIII failed to save file's and never worked afterwards.
Oh that can't be good for PR

Well there you go. if you think the grass is greener on the Twin's side of the forest. then don't come here and hate on my Nintendo, cause your all pumped after watching there hate driven ad campgnes.

Im told they subsidize there gaming over there like scotialist Comunist. Hehe =) that was a joke

Cheers to all gamers I wuv you!

I'd think that what it mostly comes down to is that certain people were calling the Wii a piece of junk at E3 in 2006, and four years later they're still trying to claim that they were right. From where I'm standing, they've not really got a lot of credibility.

Matt_B

Slapshot

@matt... your exactly right my friend.

@albion... Sony and there ads are comedy, but obviously you fanboys can't take a joke too well.

Nintendo and Sony are the two companies that work with 3rd parties and allow unlimited freedom of development wich is why I support both companies.

Sony has there issues as well. FF13, Bayonetta, Borderlands all had massive launch issues, fixed quickly. The PS3 death day. Removing Other OS screwing owners. I hope this 3D crap fails as well. Trust me I criticize them all when necessary. I'm just hate this BS console bashing.
