For the second time since I got my Wii, I'm having issues with the Wii remote/nunchuck combination. Sometimes my character begins moving without any input and sometimes other nunchuck button actions occur without my input. On Animal Crossing it sometimes even says that the controller attachment is not supported by this game.
I can "reset" this by detaching the nunchuck and then reattaching a few moments later, but even then the problems tend to occur again. The first time this started, I switched Wii remotes and the problem was completely solved. Now it's happening again. I have a theory that playing EA Sports Active is causing damage to the interface between the remote and the nunchuck, as it occurred the first time a couple weeks after I purchased it. I didn't want to believe it since the game has helped me to get into a regular exercise routine, but this week that's about all I used my Wii for after getting back from vacation and the problem just started again.
I have had similar problems occur with dual-analog controllers before--at least the part about the character moving without input. This happened with one of my GameCube controllers and one of my PS2 controllers, but the difference is those were cheap to replace. The Wii remote is not, yet somehow I doubt repairs would be covered by warranties as they will consider it my fault for having damaged the controller.
If anyone has been through this before and has found a solution through Nintendo or has discovered that the Nyko wand is better even though it's ugly or something, please let me know! Thanks in advance.

The only thing I can think of that would make a character move without any input from you would be that the controller is becoming miscalibrated when you plug it in. In order for the analog stick to be calibrated properly, it needs to be in a completely upright position. This is it's "zero" position. If you plug in the nunchuck and the analog stick is in any other position other than upright, than that position becomes the "zero" position, resulting in character movement without you touching the control stick. But, that doesn't seem to be the case here.
Yep. That happens to my Wiimote+Nunchuk combo all the time. The problem is with the Nunchuck. I bought a new Wiimote and the problem still happens. I'm glad it isn't a Wiimote issue because they're too expensive to replace all the time. The Nunchuk's are about $20, but even that is still expensive for a controller attachment. For now I just unplug/replug the Nunchuk to get it to work again. It can be frustrating though when it constantly happens.
Thanks for the information. I got a couple new nunchucks this Christmas that I haven't used yet, so I'll try one of them and see if it helps. One of the Wii's best-kept secrets is that it's actually the most expensive console this generation--because of the controllers!! I just wish they were more reliable. I would go 3rd party, but unfortunately I haven't heard good things about the 3rd-party nunchucks if the Amazon reviews are anything to go by.
