I was told at my local Gamestop store that there was no midnight release for New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

of course there HAS to be a midnight releace for Modern Warfare 2

The average Mario player has a bedtime before midnight. It's not that big a surprise. They had a midnight release for Mario Kart Wii here, and there wasn't even a line. Mario Kart. Seriously, we think of these games as huge, but the average kid playing these games isn't a midnight release kind of guy. CoD will pack parking lots with teens and tweens waiting to get in. Has nothing to do with the game's quality, just the demographic.

Oh man this looks CLASSIC! Glad to see the spin-jump from Super Mario World will be making a return.

I think it depends on the store and how many pre-orders there are. So some stores may have a midnight release and some may not.
