NB: for slapshot82 and anyone else on the fence about this title.
A Boy and his Blob, is stunning visually the hand drawn feel definitely makes you take notice when you first boot it up, major effort has clearly gone into this game visually, sound is good and "fairytale-esque", controls are ok I would have preferred to use the dpad for movement or IR controls for jelly bean placement whilst a bit of a missed opportunity its by no means a deal breaker. It is notable that this is a slow-burn 2D platformer meaning that you should take your time with it soak in the ambience and chill out while playing it, its not chaotic and frantic fun like Mario or Megaman but its just as fun in its own way. Also many have complained about the sign giving hints, this didn't bother me as the puzzles were hardly fiendish enough that these signs could be deemed spoilers, instead they helped me see what each new bean was for (an in game tutorial if u will). If you were on the fence about it, up to know I definitely think: Buy It! Ps the opening credits make Boy looks like a bada$$ lol don't let his boyish charms fool you, he's a stone cold killa! lmao
hope this helps

I've only put in an hour or two so far as well, and i'd also definitely reccommend the game, a lot of fun. Sadly, it's been pushed to the side right now as NSMBWii is monopolizing my console gaming for the time being. =)

I've just completed the first & second area with all chests collected, so far i gotta say its awesome, havn't had a problem with the controls seem fast and responsive, the music is great, graphics are sweet also. the only annoyance i've had was when i went to buy it the morons in Game had no idea what i was talking about and tried to sell me MW2 instead...
I'm lucky that the GameStop i most frequently go to has a couple guys near my age working there who were also NES-era gamers. The response i got when picking this game up was actually an "excellent choice! I loved the NES game, i'm psyched for this one!"
@Dru192: Nice backlog. I too have a big backlog, not even counting VC purchases that i still want to play through ... i also have a 360 and am going to have to try to avoid picking up AC2 at least before Thanksgiving, otherwise the pile just grows and i still am trying to wrap up GTA Ballad of Gay Tony, not to mention a few XBLA titles to complete. And i don't even count other games (VC, XBLA, etc) that are "always-plays", like Donkey Kong, or Peggle, or Streets of Rage, etc etc.
Oy. Non-gamers will never undertsand all the time and work it takes to be a gamer! =D

I'm so envious, all the staff in my local gamestores are all seem to be ps360 gamers so I hate the "walk of shame" when buying Wii games, they look at me like I'm on crack, lol. Being a gamer is a full time job, totally feel you. I'm doin pretty well wiv my downloads tho just finished megaman 9 (I was slow on the uptake) and Lost Winds 2, playin thru Phantom Hourglass + Scribblenaughts on my DSi too.

Ramandus, I totally agree. I actually only played NSMB for one day and I only have 2 more levels left. Blob on the other hand took me a week of steady playing to get through it. I actually still have some challenge levels left on the last level to beat. I highly recommend it to any gamer. It just goes to show that if a game doesn't have a million dollar marketing blitz, or a big name, especially on the Wii, it will get missed.
@Ramandus - god that'd be a nice option. Adulthood sucks. As it stands, there are still 11 PS1 games I haven't finished, 3 of which I haven't even started. I've almost resigned myself to having a perminant, several-thousand-hours-of-gaming backlog. I had a copy of Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter unopened until I noticed a few weeks ago and opened it. Sadly it still hasn't gone in my PS2 (curse you DQ8 and your seemingly unending nature)

Sooo, The signs.......Are they ing EVERY level of the game? I have this game got it on sale, BUT i want to know if the signs are always there before i open it and cant return if I want too because of this. (Because that bothers me.)

There are signs in a lot of the levels on this game. They start disappearing once you get closer to the end of the game during the last world. The last two levels have no signs, if I'm rememberin' right, and they're both long enough to be considered two levels each. o_O Just remember, the signs are generally placed as a tutorial so that you know how or when you're supposed to use a new jelly bean. I've found myself stuck at a few parts with absolutely no signs around. Sometimes there's even multiple ways to accomplish a certain task. I usually find myself making this game more complicated than it should be because I over-analyze the situation, but that's what made it fun for me. Figurin' out the best way to solve a puzzle, or just tryin' to do it my way for the heck of it. =)
I've had a lot of fun with this game myself. It may be a tad repetitive for some, but I never had that problem. The way that I looked at the game was that every time I went to a new level, it was a new puzzle for me to solve. I love solving puzzles. =) I played every level, regular and bonus, for the first two worlds, but unfortunately I haven't had time to do the bonus levels for the other areas.
This is a truly great game. The artwork is very nice. The imagery invokes a sense of easiness and peace (until the end that is =P) and makes me feel very comfortable playing this game, while at the same time, the challenge continues to grow as the game progresses.
I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who enjoys puzzles, artsy games, or someone who has some time, because the pace of the game is rather slow compared to others, but that's one of the things I love about it. =)
Agreed with all the points made on how ABAHB is amazing, beautiful, challenging, and one of the best games on the Wii.
But as for the sign posts. I think it would have been cool if they were only in the first few levels. Then, you would have to experiment and see what each jellybean does, and how you interact with it. That was apart of the appeal of the original. I just think it would be cool. No way wrecks the game though.
Oh, and @anyone who calls this game a "re-make". It is nothing of the sort. It is a "re-imagining". =D
The makers recently stated they would like to make a sequel. Don't know if it will happen because the game didn't sell as expected. I would welcome the sequel though.

They're not in any spot where you wouldn't have figured it out quickly anyway. It's like GLaDOS telling you "speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out."
I just saw the IGN review video. I thought it was funny when he was talking about the scold and hug button. Something like, "You can hug or scold the blob or both at same time in repetition, like i like to do, confusing and scaring him for life.
The game was very good, but I only have one real complaint... The game was too short. I beat it and got 100% in a very short amount of time. I wasn't trying to rush through it or anything, and before I knew it, it was over. I think a lot of this has to do with many levels (especially the Challenge levels) were very very short. I get why there are 80 levels in the game, but around 1/3 or more only have like 2-3 puzzles. Excellent game though, just it's a shame it was over so quickly. Maybe the sequel will be longer.
