Now that the Wii U has been out for more than a month and you've experienced it, what is your opinion on it?
For me, there's a reason I didn't ask for one for Christmas. My Wii U was a Christmas present that I didn't even ask for. It was from my cousins. I really appreciate it and I'm definitely thankful to them but I can't say I'm loving it. For the first week or two I really enjoyed messing around with it. Nintendo Land and the Miiverse were really cool. It was awesome to finally have Netflix too, but after awhile it all wore off. Nintendo Land got repetitive and I can't play any multiplayer in Nintendo Land since I don't have Wiimotes. I also got NSMBU so I thought that'd be good for single player. It's not, for me anyways. The game really wasn't what I was expecting. It's nice, I think it's the best NSMB game, but it's clearly still made with multiplayer in mind, for the most part, and I don't really enjoy it. I haven't touched the console in a good week or more.
Overall I think the Wii U is a good enough console but it has so so much unused potential as of right now. Obviously, it's still incredibly early to be complaining about something like that, so I won't. I'll probably like it more once games I actually want start coming out.

I agree Retro. I love the potential that it has but for me I cant use it for various reason. My biggest gripe right now is I only have two games for it FIFA 13 and Nintendoland and all the Wii U games are unavailable right now from GameFly. I am sure that once I get a few more games for it I will play it more often but for now the only thing I use it for is Netflix and Wii games.
Still though I am glad that I got it when I did.

I was very impressed with the potential the Wii U brings to indy developers and the industry in its entirety.
I'm anxiously looking forward to the years to come.
@Retro, have you never owned a Wii or did you just sell it over its lifetime?
In either case, it's unlikely you played all the good Wii games, and many of them are better than the majority (if not all) of the Wii U launch Titles.
Oh, and get yourself some Xenoblade, whether you like JRPGs or not.
Anyways, for me, I'm pretty much loving it. With MiiVerse, after realizing that I could draw well on the GamePad, I quickly became one of those MiiVerse artists (although I'm nowhere near as talented as those really crazy ones nor do I have the patience to pull it off). I love NintendoLand both as a single player and multiplayer experience, although I barely play it alone now.
New Super Mario Bros. U is also great fun single and multiplayer for me, especially with the inclusion of challenges since I like to torture myself like that. I've been playing Assassin's Creed 3 and Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed the most though, both look and play excellently on the Wii U and make decent use of the GamePad.
I've purchased 4 eShop titles so far, Nano Assault Neo (stunning looking twin stick shooter), Little Inferno (charming yet engrossing puzzle simulator), Trine 2 (gorgeous puzzle platformer) and Mighty Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition (have the 3DS version, loved it and saw that the Wii U version was on sale, loving it all over again).
Needless to say I'm having a blast, and this is before the must have games for me are coming out like The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.
Love the controller, off-screen play is awesome, Miiverse is outstanding. The foundations for an amazing system is there, all I want more of now is games (both retail and eShop). Looking forward to Rayman Legends.

My Wii U has been collecting dust most of the time. There just aren't that many games I'm interested in.
My biggest issue however is that I can connect to the internet fine regularly on the Wii U but the same connection doesn't work for the Wii channel. We had some troubles with our internet connection and came out of it with a differant encryption type that didn't work with the Wii. So for me It was a real kick in the guts when I found out that you had to play VC games on a Wii channel that acted just like a Wii including the same inability to connect to our wireless router!
I've only played Nintendo Land so far (would have got NSMB U first, but the fact that NSMB 2 came out just a couple of months ago meant that I had zero anticipation/hunger for it, so will hold off for a while on that). I can't deny my initial impression was slightly underwhelmed. I was firstly miffed by the fact that when walking around the plaza you have to hold the Wii U pad up just to see where you're going! I was like "are you f'ing kidding me?!" I hope that's not a sign of things to come (ie. gimmicky, clunky, annoying controls masquerading as innovation, but actually just being wacky for the sake of being wacky). Luckily my annoyance was quickly tempered by the fact that the first game I played was one that I loved (Yoshi's Fruit Cart). Generally I've really liked most of the games in Nintendo Land. I think the reason I was at first underwhelmed was because it seemed like every game was Nintendo saying "Look! Look! Motion controls! Look! Look! Touch screen!!" and I'm not really sure these things are particularly new or exciting anymore.
I haven't yet properly explored other aspects of the console. At first Miiverse looked irritating, but actually it's quite nice. It makes you feel part of a community, which I never felt with the Wii (and anyway, I first thought the 3DS's Streetpass was completely pointless and now I'm slightly obsessed with it...)
I think as long as developers look at the Wii U pad as offering everything that they may need, rather than having to use everything at once, then I'll be happy with it.
I kind of made a similar post recently about my Wii U "gathering dust" basically saying I'm not using it as much as I'd like to be.
For me it's simple, there's just not enough "decent" games out for the Wii U at this time, especially if you already own a PS3 & or Xbox 360 as well.
Biggest disappointment of all (I know the console has only just launched) is that everything feels so quiet on the Wii U front, it almost feels a little dead, no new console updates have been released since launch, still no sign of a Virtual Console on the Wii U, eShop hardly seen anything new in the last few weeks. etc. etc.
I also only have the two games the OP mentioned, NSMBU is ok but nothing to exciting, while Nintendo Land is ok for a short while but IMO soon gets old.
I'm waiting for Rayman Legends & Bayonetta 2, these two games would help a lot, also reallly hope to see some new console updates/features soon!
I love the console, however I'm not loving it crashing quite alot lately. Been playing skylanders recently it crashes all the time. Hopefully a patch can sort it out.
I own Nintendo land which I love and Want to unlock everything. Zombiu is fantastic and nearly completed it, sonic racing is good but something about it bug me, and I'm not sure what. It's probably the frame rate. Skylanders giants is the best version I just hope they sort the crashing.
Miiverse is excellent, netflix is constantly used, I browse the internet on the gamepad more than my laptop as it's one of the best browsers ever. And I own a nearly 800 pound laptop.
The Wii U is not perfect, overpriced games could ruin it in the UK, £55 for a game is ridiculous and most of the 3rd party games are double yhe price of Xbox and ps3.
And poor ports with bad frame rate is unacceptable really.
Hopefully things wiill get better in the next few months

Actually, that's the same price for new releases on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Also, these are HD games.
