I've bought zombi u, nano assault and tekken; still looking to get trine 2, sonic racing, scribblenaughts and little inferno. I personally think there is plenty out there, my 3ds and 360 have been collecting dust, though 3ds will be getting lots of love soon with eo4, unchained blades and two smt games coming

AH come on is this again turning into mindless haters vs. blind fanboys?
No matter how you think about the Wii U facts are that there is no real killer-app for the launch (no Nintendoland and New Super Mario Bros U might be awesome games, but they are definitely not system sellers, either is Zombi U) - its clearly shown by the software attach-rate in some reports about the sales in North America that there is not the ONE big thing people want to pick up immediately.

Further I find it funny that everøne is saying third party support is strong! Oh really? Where are all the awesome post launch-window third party games? Right, on the other consoles.

I personally don't mind. I get Nintendoconsoles for Mario and Zelda and Smash Bros, I got a PC and a 360 and a 3DS, I can play WHAT I want WHERE I want, but if I had only the Wii U I'd also be pretty worried - not wishing it bad luck just being worried as an honest fan - we all have seen the unfortunate way too early end to the gamecube, even though it was my favourite console to date!

But its all just opinions,
don't hate on nintendo just because its nintendo and please dont take everything for granted just because its nintendo and you think every little shiny star will automatically come to you just because you own a Wii U. It's all business.

Well this is the internet.

"Killer app" is a matter of opinion really. Oh, believe it or not, Mario is always a system seller. The New Super Mario Bros. series have pushed many sales of their respective consoles.

  • its clearly shown by the software attach-rate in some reports about the sales in North America that there is not the ONE big thing people want to pick up immediately.

How is this a bad thing? The launch offers different games for different tastes.

Further I find it funny that everøne is saying third party support is strong! Oh really? Where are all the awesome post launch-window third party games? Right, on the other consoles.

You mean the consoles that have a much larger base and have been out for years? Moot point.

Too early? It lasted for five years. It also competed with the PS2 which was far more successful.

But its all just opinions,
don't hate on nintendo just because its nintendo and please dont take everything for granted just because its nintendo and you think every little shiny star will automatically come to you just because you own a Wii U. It's all business.

And part of business is providing those shiny stars, because otherwise the system won't last very long.

No "killer app" on the Wii U? Oh, sure! Let's have Nintendo give us all their best games in the Wii U's first year, so we can see a repeat of the GameCube scenario!

Nintendo doesn't have games pouring out their ears. They need a good strategy to maintain the console's momentum throughout the life of the Wii U. That's been their weakness ever since the start of the fifth generation.

I'm kinda disappointed with the Wii U too, it seems to just be so lacking in features. That said, I think it'll sell very well. I mean, it already has a 2D Mario game and CoD, both of which are going to hugely increase the sales numbers of the system, not to mention MH coming fairly soon. Plus, what GL said is right. We already know that Zelda, a new Monolith RPG, and a tonne of other games are on the way soon. At least we know the future is looking reasonably bright.

Not as bad as the complaining about the VC:

We want this game!
Nintendo releases game
WHERE'S THIS OTHER GAME? VC SUX!!

I always hear about blind fanboys, and unbiased superstars. I thought that peoples personal opinions were their own, no matter which system they have... Anyways, I agree with most of the people here in terms of not being bored with the Wii U yet. If anyone thinks this system is boring already, or shouldn't have survived this long, that's exactly why PS3/Xbox 360 did so horribly at first, and shouldn't have made it this far in the first place(5-7 years rushed?). PS3/Xbox 360 both have TONS of features, and now Nintendo has the EXACT same features available(in terms of gaming features, and better/worse in some cases, no doubt), and now they are still not as good? I also agree with not that many games(YET), but chances are, those saying this probably haven't even 100% completed ANY game on their console, and still choose to back to PS/Xbox for the games. Tons of cool stuff is coming soon, being patient is hard(I know), and be glad you have 5-7 years worth of other consoles goodness to play while you are waiting for more Wii U content. I'm not bored of my Wii U, and having BC support to Wii mode gives me access to tons of other games I've haven't 100%ed. Maybe if/when Wii (disc based games)downloadable, or GCN get released on the eShop, you'll be MORE satisfied with the amount of content on the Wii U. I'm waiting for Pikmin 3, Smash Bros., Bayonetta 2, Legos, and other games coming out that I will probably be playing for months on end.

I really don't understand why someone who has a PS3 and 360 and isn't interested in any exclusive games yet would pick the Wii U up. This situation will take at the very least 6 months to change, if not more. There's always a bit of a drought straight after the launch, I think with Rayman and Lego City Undercover as exclusives the Wii U does rather well in its first quarter (the start of the year, mind you).

Not blindly defending the Wii U — I don't have one despite not owning PS360, just trying to think of some way that someone would buy a new console that doesn't have enough games they like yet, and then complain about it.

That being said, I agree entirely with already being disappointed in the lack of announced multiplatform titles. Playing catch-up on launch day with a couple of older titles is understandable, but right now it seems like no developers are planning on bringing any multiplatform 2013 titles to Wii U. So much for having at least a year's worth of multiplatform titles, until the PS4/720 launches.

I understand both sides. On one hand, there isn't that killer app that gets people to buy the system. Nothing like Mario 64, Twilight Princess, Wii Sports, Halo: Combat Evolved, every game in the GBA launch (that thing's launch was amazing, looking back on it), or a lot of the Gamecube's launch (another really good launch, and Smash Bros. a month after was pretty sweet.) On the other hand, the amount of quality titles launching with the system is pretty impressive. On day one, you can play Mass Effect 3, Assassin's Creed 3, Darksiders 2, Batman: Arkham City, COD, Sonic Allstars Racing Transformed and three sports games (not my cup of tea, but there's plenty of fans). Frankly, the 3rd party games shine above what Nintendo brought to the table if one looks at it objectively. I remember recently seeing Gametrailers' game of the year awards for Wii U, and all of the nominees were 3rd party (a decision I kind of agree with, since I've been pretty underwhelmed with Mario and Nintendoland is only really good in Multiplayer).

Also, Pikmin 3. The third game in a series that is the video game equivalent to crack.

If you put the little soft see through cover that the unit came in over it that should stop some of the dust. I use the one the gamepad game in too to keep it nice and fresh. Hope that helped.

I appreciate all of your thoughts/opinions on this subject, I'm glad you have all taken my post in good spirit and not been to hard on me, lol.

As I said in my first post I am a Nintendo fan, I've always loved most of Nintendo's big franchises for as long as I can remember, so I was always going to get a Wii U at some point, I'll hold my hands up and admit that maybe I rushed out and picked one up a little too soon when in all honesty I probably should have waited a little while.

Hopefully once the likes of Rayman Legends is released I'll get back into the console once again but at this time it just feels a little dead to me, I 100% agree with those of you saying that things would feel much better if Nintendo at least announced a Mario Kart or Zelda or Donkey Kong etc. I know they would still be well down the line, but just knowing they are confirmed and 100% on the way would certainly make me feel a lot better about the current Wii U situation, also a rough release date for Bayonetta 2 would be nice as well.
