Not releasing Mario Golf on the Wii was a huge missed opportunity given that it's the perfect kind of game to utilize motion controls in. But it seems like an even bigger missed opportunity for the Wii U since there aren't any third party golf titles on the console. Seriously why not release a new Mario Golf title? What do you guys think?
Considering that Nintendo have been pushing hard to get their main big hitters out over the past couple of years, it would be silly to let the WiiU stagnate towards the end like they did with the Wii. So, hopefully, they might make a new entry in Mario tennis, golf and soccer.
Nobody really knows what Nintendo are upto after they've released Zelda, Starfox, and Mario Maker. It's anybody's guess at the moment.
I'd love to see a Golf and Tennis game but not just one where you play against mates, have an online version and I'd love to se a season option where you play Masters, Majors and Minor tournaments.
I was looking forward to getting a Tiger Woods game on Wii U considering how well received the Wii versions were, but there hasn't been one on a Nintendo system since Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 (which was released in Early 2011). If EA decides to stop being the See You In Tennessees that they are and decide to release new FIFA and PGA games on a Nintendo platform that are AT LEAST as good, if not better than the PS4/Bone versions, then I'd definitely jump on board. The lack of parity during the last gen put me off from buying any annual sport games. I would have bought FIFA 13 on Wii U if it wasn't a port of FIFA 12 on PS3/360 with a roster update, but, they haven't stepped up their game since.
Heck, I'd've bought FIFA 15 on 3DS if they bothered to address the performance issues that have plagued FIFA 12.
@Blast Absolutely, Mario Tennis and Mario Sluggers as well. The chances of any third-party sports games is highly unlikely at this point and there are some sports such as baseball, golf, and tennis "with the exception of the rather shallow Wii Sports Club" that have no major releases on the Wii U.
Well just look at titles on the 3DS and you'll understand why....
Pokemon X/Y: 12mill
Mario Kart 7: 10mill
Luigi's Mansion 2: 4mill
Kid Icarus Uprising: 1.2mill
Mario Tennis: 0.8mill
Fantasy Life: 0.7mill
Mario Golf: 0.3mill
I personally wouldn't mind it at all, especially given how much I love golf with the WiiMote. But there are heaps of games that I reckon they'll consider before they get to Mario Golf. Even second and third tier games like Wario Land tend to sell more copies than the Mario sports titles.
