I honestly didn't know the after pic was a emulated picture of the Gamecube/Wii version. I got it from Nintendo News. (Which they showed HD pictures of TP in HD today.)
Thanks for telling me.
Is it bad that one of the things that got me the most excited was the fact that they went with the Gamecube version's map and not the mirrored Wii version?

Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
Why would they would go with a ported version instead of the original?...lol
Because every time a concept from Twilight Princess is used, it's from the Wii version. Any official art and footage is from the Wii version (I guess because it's 16:9), but even Hyrule Warriors used the mirrored layout from the Wii version.

Eh, I had the Wii version, so playing the original they way it was meant to be played will be interesting for me. Only thing I'm gonna miss from the Wii version is the arrows...then again Skyward Sword's Bow and Arrows were ten times better. lol

Yeah, it's quite confusing. I own both versions of TP, but whenever I'm playing one version, I tend to remember the other and I tend to get confused about the direction I have to go in. Whenever I enter a new area, I have to close my eyes; imagine what the area looks like and where I have to go, and mirror that movement if I'm thinking about the other version. Usually halfway through the game it's fine, but I still get confused once in a while.
@Kinan: Actually, the GameCube version is the original and you can feel that in the game. The desert is on the wrong side of Hyrule field in the Wii version, for example. Everybody who played OoT noticed that. It really bothered me while playing the Wii version.
However, I played only the Wii-version but really hoped that they will port the GC-version since I want to play the original game. Of course it is a bit confusing when all directions are mirrored since it feels like another game at some points.
But with the exception of 16:9 I see the GameCube version as the more powerful version. I don't know if that is right. Are the light effects or anti-aliasing different in both version? However, at least the free camera is what the GC-version makes the better one in actual gameplay.
Nevertheless, I hope they will include some motions controls for the Gamepad like moving the camera in first person mode or shooting arrows.
@Kinan: Of course you know. And I know you know. It was more a general answer of me. For me it is the same but I could never see the Wii-Version as the original version. It always felt wrong

I would hope that for the controls they're going to do something similar to Wind Waker HD (and the 3DS Zelda ports). I see no reason why they wouldn't have aiming weapons optionally controlled by the gyro. Alongside inventory/map and off-TV play functions on that secondary screen.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
@Kinan: Yes, that is the problem of written words that are not your mother tongue. I'm just glad that I can write down my opinion but then my tone or setting everything in context go by the board. I am sorry. I will try harder.
@skywake: I see. That used motion controls in Wind Waker HD, too. Then I guess, they will do the same in TP HD. And that is great since it is optional and in my opinion the fastest way to shoot arrows
Looks significantly better when viewed side by side. More than just the improved textures though, I'm excited to see what they can do with more modern and powerful lighting tech and stuff like that.
I'm so down for some pretty torches.
Only little complaint is that the hair and eye textures look very dated, kind of a Xenoblade effect going on there. Like they're not rendered separately from the rest of the body, just painted on a solid model.
At least Twilight Princess is less fuzzy. And, yes, the facial features are just 2D elements, but they are at least used in conjunction with 3D facial models. Makes it a bit nicer than your Tales of Symphonias.
Ya. I don't care. They might as well have just made the Wii U run ALL Wii games in HD if you bought them on the eShop(Metroid Prime Trilogy, Sin & Punishment 2, Pandora's Tower, etc). If it's the same $20 as the other Wii games, then it should be fine, otherwise I would say it's not worth it.
For some of the "HD remakes" that you see I'd agree with this sentiment. Especially the ones going from 360/PS3 to XBOne/PS4. But going from a standard definition game and building it up so it looks good at HD resolutions? It's quite a bit more work than simply porting the game. Especially if they're redoing texture work as it's clear they are.
And as a side note, these guys are one of only a few Australian game developers. Our games industry is pretty broken and most of the games made are movie tie-ins, mobile/indie titles or Australian sports games. For an Australian dev to be given a Zelda game? That's a big deal. And while it might not be of any interest to people outside of Australia as an Australian? Especially as a fan of Zelda. I'm definitely getting this at launch.
Ya, but it will still be the same game, except for GamePad, HD, and waggle might be gone(which matters to me). That is why I was saying that it matters if you gave played it already. I probably wouldn't have bought Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, or a ton of Wii U games I have, if I had already played the older versions on Xbox 360, PS3, or Wii. Even a game like Deus Ex was like $9 at GameStop for PS3/Xbox 360, but then add in the DLC and the price gets bumped up, plus extra benefits that Eidos added to the new one after cutting corners on the older versions, plus GamePad support. Those are what I thought made a rerelease worth $50.
I bought Twilight Princess the day Wii came out, and I've played it like 4 times all the way through, and now the SD version is $10 or less from any sane person or store. So ya, $20 is my value for this game, and I still think they shouldn't have released the Wii games on the eShop for anymore than like $15 if they aren't being ran like VC. I already regret buying Wind Waker HD, as it is. It's the same reason why I wouldn't update to the Ultimate version of the Gears games.
Updating something like Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition to the Xbox One version, or VC for a $1.50 is a different story, because they know I bought them digitally and can give me that sort of choice(ibought those along time ago, too, so asking for a small fee for upgrade still makes sense). Say, for example, that they let me upgrade to Twilight Princess HD for $20, because I registered my Wii game on Club Nintendo, even that would be a better choice than straight up asking full retail again. I'm guessing the same thing happened to the Gears of War games, because I would guess hardly anyone bought digitally on Xbox 360. I should be able to upgrade those games for cheaper, but instead they give the codes away for the older versions if you buy the Ultimate version. It's kind of backwards.
EDIT: I fully support a dev team in Australia working on the game, but not the game itself.
I have a hunch there will be an option to play mirrored with motion, or unmirrored without. I see no reason to drop an existing control scheme the Wii U supports.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
I like the fact they moved to the gamecube version for it. It makes me want to buy it more. I still hope they do away with the bad sound though, the midi blips and all that.
Tweaking the sound would definitely improve the experience. I'm still not convinced about this game though. I think it's funny that after the trailer, a short piece of footage of Zelda U was shown. To me it kind of had the effect of ; Why buy TP HD when Zelda U looks better in every way and is right around the corner.

I'm alright with this, loved using the gyro controls in Wind Waker. (though I had trouble using them while dealing with Kalle, lol)
