I want to see the dynamic lighting in HD. That'll be neat.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

All I want to see in HD is this:

Imagine this in clear HD. You pretty much be frightened or creeped out when seeing this.

Ya. I don't care. They might as well have just made the Wii U run ALL Wii games in HD if you bought them on the eShop(Metroid Prime Trilogy, Sin & Punishment 2, Pandora's Tower, etc). If it's the same $20 as the other Wii games, then it should be fine, otherwise I would say it's not worth it.

EDIT: It also matters if you haven't played them before. I was fine with buying slightly enhanced ports at first, but not really anymore.

Which dynamic lighting?

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Everything with an open flame.

anyone care to post a pic of a before/after HD of midna?

Doesn't look dramatically better, but combine the amiibo, the high cost of the Gamecube version, and the convenience of playing it on a modern system, and I'm sold! I've never played it before, so this should be interesting.

Currently Playing: Yakuza 0: Director's Cut (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

Heh yeah, I kept expecting the trailer to change into HD and look beautiful.

It never happened.

Ha, I admit I had the same reaction at first.

While it does look a little underwhelming initially, @skywake's direct-feed shots show that a whole lot of work has been done to the textures. It looks like we've got some nice anti-aliasing, too, and possibly at 1080p (no telling though, as Nintendo has often released 1080p screenshots of 720p games). I think it'll look quite nice and clean on the big screen.

My speculative hope is that the grunt work of getting the game ported is complete or mostly complete (Tantalus has been talking about this since February 2015, and Aonuma's team had Twilight Princess running on the Wii U even before work began on Wind Waker HD — WWHD itself had a very short development cycle). Here's hoping that the next few months before debugging are spent on graphical improvements. As others have said, improved lighting would go a ridiculously long way. WWHD got a whole new lighting engine on what appears to be a shorter dev cycle, so goodly sized graphical improvements aren't out of the question here.

Also, didn't they say Tantalus is porting this game? So... is that the long-rumored AAA game being ported to Wii U, then?

Tantalus ported Mass Effect 3 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution to the Wii U, not much of a track record.

Those were both very solid ports, though. Especially Human Revolution, which many consider the definitive edition of the game. Tantalus is very familiar with porting hefty games to the Wii U, and that's a good thing.

Slightly off the subject, but did anyone mention Twilight Princess HD as the potential Tantalus project? I've been following the speculation, and I never saw anyone pitch that idea.

In conclusion, the box art and amiibo look baller.

I couldn't find a picture of HD and Wii of Minda doing the exact thing, but you'll discover that the HD version is less murkier and little bit more colorful.

Lol, $40 will be cheaper than TPHD. You don't know what you're talking about.

They don't have to add anything; they dynamic lighting was in the gamecube version, lol.

I'm almost sure that HD image is from the Wii/GC version, emulated.

I believe it most definitely is. Here are the best looks we've gotten at Midna in Twilight Princess HD — direct-feed screens from Nintendo's press kit:

The difference is most apparent in Midna's headdress. In the second shot, though, you can also see what appears to be the same leafy texture from @Hendesu's shot, and it's noticeably clearer. More subtly, the blue detailing on her body isn't aliased or compressed, like it is in the emulator shot.

At the very least, it looks like all the textures are uncompressed or revised.

For some of the "HD remakes" that you see I'd agree with this sentiment. Especially the ones going from 360/PS3 to XBOne/PS4. But going from a standard definition game and building it up so it looks good at HD resolutions? It's quite a bit more work than simply porting the game. Especially if they're redoing texture work as it's clear they are.

And as a side note, these guys are one of only a few Australian game developers. Our games industry is pretty broken and most of the games made are movie tie-ins, mobile/indie titles or Australian sports games. For an Australian dev to be given a Zelda game? That's a big deal. And while it might not be of any interest to people outside of Australia as an Australian? Especially as a fan of Zelda. I'm definitely getting this at launch.

I'm excited for the new amiibo / character "Meat Wolf Link."

I expect Metal Wolf Baby Meat Link in Smash and Mario Kart by year's end.

@Morpheel: Indeed. I had the same thought — actually edited that into my post as you were typing.

Curious to see how (or if) this game evolves before March.

I honestly didn't know the after pic was a emulated picture of the Gamecube/Wii version. I got it from Nintendo News. (Which they showed HD pictures of TP in HD today.)
Thanks for telling me.

I also expect shiny platinum metal possessed baby Zelda and golden brown super raccoon senior Wolf Link by next year as Ambiio DLC only.

Looks significantly better when viewed side by side. More than just the improved textures though, I'm excited to see what they can do with more modern and powerful lighting tech and stuff like that.

Only little complaint is that the hair and eye textures look very dated, kind of a Xenoblade effect going on there. Like they're not rendered separately from the rest of the body, just painted on a solid model.

...I kinda wanna see what the Goron Mines looks like now, lol.
Also wondering if they're going to any touch-ups to the music like they did with Wind Waker.
