You know what? Twilight Princess is awesome. I'm convinced by now that all of its supposed flaws are just strengths that other people misunderstand.
Take for example Hyrule Field - Eldin. Big, flat, not much to do but ride around on your horse and kill bulblins. But just look up; from there you can see all of Hyrule! Snowpeak, Hyrule Castle, Death Mountain, Zora's River—it's all there. Just an amazing place.
And then the much-belittled Twilight. Common complaints include feeling lost, confused, and the sequences taking a long time as a result. Well consider Zelda for a moment. What is the core gameplay loop of Zelda? Entering a dungeon, feeling confused by the puzzles and impotent in your inability to beat them, eking a path through to the mini boss and gaining the dungeon's item—gaining the power of agency.
Now back to the Twilight; you enter, feel confused by the strange landscape and impotent due to the lack of bipedal legs and opposable thumbs, and eking your path through to clear away the Twilight, thus empowering you to solve the region's challenges.
The Twilight is Zelda.
A game as grand as Twilight Princess starts to become meaningless if always playing the same one, epic note. The Twilight sections provide an essential contrast to the high points of the game. They are a tool for contrast, not just gameplay-wise, but also tonally. When in the Twilight Link is either fearful for others or feared by others. He becomes an outsider due to their fearful scorn. This is a perfect and crucial foil to the game's moments of triumph.
Get good, other games. Get. Gud.
Well thats like, your opinion, man.
Anywho, one could say that about any game, that the cons are just misunderstood pros, and thats fine if you enjoy them, but they're still flaws that a lot of other people have problems with.
Wait, what did I do again? I'm not sure that was intentional...
Oh nothing. It was some reference to my avatar.

Is Nintendo even properly featured at those awards? I figured Nintendo wasn't "Hollywood" enough for the Game Awards.
Last year Nintendo was very prominent in the show.
They won Developer of the Year, Fighting GotY (SSBWiiU), Sports/Racing GotY (MK8), & Family GotY (MK8). Also Shovel Knight won Indie GotY (a Nintendo exclusive at the time).
They also got other nominations that lost. Bayonetta 2 (Overall GotY & Action/Advenrure GotY), SSB3DS (Handheld/Mobile GotY & Fighting GotY), Tomodachi Life (Family GotY), and Pokémon OR/AS (Remake/Remaster GotY).
Also, the show opened and closed with Koji Kondo on stage playing piano (opened it with Mario music, closed it with Zelda music). Then of course there were the trailers.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
@mookysam: I agree that TP's combat is pretty good, I only wish that the animations looked as fluid as Wind Waker's animations. Link in TP looks a little static when he's jumping and rolling sideways.
Wind Waker's combat is boring and garbage. Beautiful animations doesn't stop it from how boring it is.

It's literally just Ocarina of Time combat with better animations and a counter button.
And Twilight Princess is just Ocarina of Time combat with a Press A for Awesome button.
Everything since Ocarina of Time is just Ocarina of Time combat with _______.

First I'd like to point out that I was talking about the animations only. They are much more fluid in Wind Waker than in Twilight Princess.
Now on actual combat in Wind Waker, it's pretty good. It's similar to OOT, and actually resembles TP's combat as well (except that Wind Waker allows for some special moves from the start). It doesn't have complex moves like TP did, but it didn't have to in my opinion. Link is quick and agile, there's plenty of different moves he can do and the animations are really fluid and organic. That's enough in my opinion.
Yeah... No. Wind Waker's combat is so boring and bland... It really is just Ocarina of Time's combat 2.0. Now Twilight Princess' combat is... you know... flashy and fun.
Yeaaahhhh I'm not a fan of complex moves. They're either rendered obsolete by the ease of access of other moves, or require too much time to activate with the chance of you fumbling up that it doesn't even matter. Forcing the player to have to push several buttons at once in a sequential order is very counterproductive when you're caught in the heat of the moment.
