One thing I'm not sure I understand is why Zelda dissolves after healing Midna and then reappears in Hyrule Castle like nothing happened, just a bit more possessed.
I mean, I haven't reached that part yet, and the last time I did was a good amount of years ago... So I probably don't remember the in-game explanation, if it was given.
I don't think it was exactly ever explained, but I think it's because she transfers her power to Midna, and therefore her spirit somehow resides within Midna. Her body then fades in because of the power of Twilight. After the battle with possessed Zelda, Midna returns the power.
Animated foliage is the biggest first world problem in gaming. I mean that; not everything needs bushes floating up like weird space amoebas and blocking your view of the character animations. That kind of nonsense would ruin Monster Hunter and precision games like it.
I'm just gonna quote myself here for no particular reason...
Anyway, hm so that Zelda thing was never explained? Well that's weird. A bit plotholey, but no exactly as game breaking as the grass.
Let's think of ways to explain it that don't involve "lulz it's shonen magic"...
Maybe...
The possessed Zelda wasn't Zelda at all and just a projection made by Ganon, from whatever was left of her in the Castle, to rule the kingdom comfortably. Then the real Zelda appeared shortly after because Midna used all her strenght to destroy Ganon, which backfired and destroyed her, thus releasing Zelda who was a part of her.
Then Midna revived in her true form because " lulz happy ending magic" (or sacrificing herself actually broke the curse).
Zelda's reappearence made a lot more sense then Zant's creepy neck snap.
That one made some sense to me, actually. Just a bit before, when Zant tells his story, we find that he is essentially a vessel for Ganon, and that the two are linked — Ganondorf even says something to the effect of "your desires shall be my desires." And it's said that you can't really kill Zant while Ganon is alive. So somewhere out there in the magical ether, when Zant snaps his own neck, it kills Ganon.
Still a little nebulous, but at least it's something.
@DarthNocturnal: I basically agree. It also makes for a nice end to Zant's story; he's been used as a puppet by Ganon and presumably driven mad, so Ganon gets a little comeuppance and Zant gets a little redemption.
Ganondorf survived being impaled through the heart-and-or-stomach with a magical glowing sword as the Triforce of Power's chosen. Link averted being turned incorporeal in a realm that flatly did not support beings of light existing as the Triforce of Courage's chosen.
Zelda using her powers as the Triforce of Wisdom's chosen to heal Midna while entering a comatose state herself is no great jump in logic. She lived with the Triforce, so she very well could have practiced with its magics. And, after going incorporeal, it only makes sense that she would reform by the Triforce's side in the throne room.
Moreover, not everything has to be a science you pointedly un-fun preposterously-pedantic people! The same goes for Zant's impossible appearance at the end; it makes this fantasy game more fantastic.
"The triforce did it off-screen" is about as boring as Zelda theories can go.
The Triforce was onscreen, brah. Moreover, it's effects were onscreen long enough for the director to assume that we could connect the dots using our mental faculties. The kind of person that demands everything be spelled out as literately and clearly as possible is actively diminishing art and harshing my fun-vibe.
Currently on my way to the third dungeon. I replayed and fully completed the original just last summer, but I'm finding it easy to get into it again regardless.
This remaster is quite okay, but the improvements over the original are far less remarkable than those of Wind Waker HD. It's evident a lot less work went into this one, but eh, I appreciate what's been done in any case. Midna looks fantastic, at the very least.
At the beginning of the game, she looked a bit off to me (she's expressionless when she's on wolf Link), but it gets better when she starts to be more active in the cutscenes.
Playing again through this, I realized she's very caring for others in this game.

Yeah, Midna definitely has an arc in this game. She starts off heavily chaotic neutral, but grows to care for all people by the endgame.
Gotta say, they really missed out on the chance to make Poe hunting less annoying this time around. They could have either added a way to turn day into night, or have them be defeatable during the day. Instead, you just get the barely useful Ghost Lantern, and still have to wait and wait and wait for another bit of time to catch a few more before the sun rises again.
At least my handwritten instructions to find them from my last playthrough are speeding up the process.
I didn't bother with the poe hunting. In fact, replaying the game made me realize that it wasn't anything special. But then again it didn't have to be. After Wind Waker it must have been nice for fans to get a more traditional 3D Zelda that they wanted since Ocarina of Time. but, It really did feel like a retread of Ocarina of Time.
I will say though that the final boss was infinitely more epic than Skyward Sword's. But of all the remasters, I'd say Wind Waker wins for gameplay and story. Giving Ganon an actual believable motivation propelled the game past Skyward Sword. Which also had a great story, but in the end devolved to "I'm super evil for the sake of it, and now my reincarnations will be evil for the sake of it, too". Though major points go to Zelda and Link's relationship.
Twilight Princess is just fun. Which isn't bad, it's all it needs to be. But compared to the Zeldas that came before and after it, it was the least exciting. The story is whatever, the gameplay was okay. Midna is probably the sole interesting character in the game.
