Hey guys I just found out a way to play VC games with the Gamepad, but turned off!!!
Well, not exactly turned off but at least isn't showing the game.
Open the VC menu by touching the screen, then close the menu while pressing down the R stick.
That's all!
Anyone knew about this? Please try it with TurboGrafx games to know if it works.
I did not know about this, thank you! I noticed the TG-16 menu doesn't display a lot of button prompts the way they do in most VC games, so something like that sounds easy to miss. You'd think they would've mentioned that somewhere more obvious. :S
You're welcome That info is actually in the manual lol. Never read it before.
Did you tried it with TG-16 games?
...it didn't work. This uses a different emulator than the Ninty-based ones, apparently. I'll have to keep looking. I didn't see it in the game manual, either.

Damn, this is really a deal breaker for me. I guess I'll have to get them on the Wii VC instead.
I'm currently on level 5, so I guess it's the complete game. Didn't know they did something like that with the Japanese version.
Japan got the game separated on card, but they also exclusively got a CD version.
I think the CD version was even called "R-Type Complete" so I'll assume it lived up to its name.
I think they added an opening cutscene as well as remixed music (like the level 1 music is acapella "RRRRRRType! RRRRRRRRType!"). The CD version though I don't think has ever been rereleased anywhere.
One of the only other games I know of to get released in both formats was Raiden, a vertical shooter that was all over the place in the early '90s then kind of died out for awhile.
With R-Type on Wii VC, I know originally both the TG16 and the Master System versions were released, but then both were removed and I think only one was restored?

@KingMike - Raiden's still going. Raiden V came out last year, and Raiden IV keeps getting updated re-releases. Not to mention the Raiden Fighters Aces collections (the PC version of that is terrible, though. Thanks, dotEMU! >_<). And I don't know how many times they've released Raiden III. I'm starting to think I outta grab the PS2 Classic version the next time its on sale to go with my Raiden IV: Overkill on the same system, but then I still have the PS2 disc in good condition...
Kinda strange how Raiden Project never made it to PSOne Classics, now that I think about it. I think that one has a Raiden game that's never been re-released elsewhere, last I checked. EDIT: Yes, Raiden II of all things! Monkeypaw needs to get on Raiden DX, too. That seems like a no-brainer for them, but the PS3 PSN is kinda now, so...
I hope more games come to the Wii U VC soon. There's still only three released so far. I have a few games from my Wii that I have downloaded that I wish to upgrade to play on Wii U. Going into Wii mode just isn't the same.
It looks like Bomberman 94, Neutopia, and Detana: Twinbee might be releasing this week in NA as all three TG-16 titles have recently been ESRB rated for release on the Wii U!

Ooo sweet. Though keep in mind Bonk was rated for a real long while before release, but at least we know what's likely to be next.
Bit of a shame it's taken Bomberman this long to debut on the Wii U in general, nevermind it's VC.....
Ooh, more TG16 games, nice. Every released game is one more step towards re-release of Castlevania. It's one of the last games I still haven't been able to upgrade from my Wii-side.
