Ended up trading in my xbox 1 in with 3 games and got The Zelda combo wii u, along with Super Mario 3d World, Monster Hunter, Donkey Kong Country,Zombi u, and pre ordered Mario Cart....only paid $13 out of pocket.
Hard to argue with that decision. Can't think of 3 XB1 games I'd want more than those 6 (or any individual XB1 games that rival any one of those, to be honest). Titanfall is nice, if a little bare bones, but I have little interest in an online-multi focused game, myself. In fact, I think it will be quite some time before XB1 receives a handful of games of comparable quality.
I would have waited till E3 but hey its your decision.
To what end? His XB1 would have been collecting more dust, losing it's value, and he would have been risking losing that trade-in if it broke or was stolen. Far as deals/bundles go, if he wanted Wind Waker HD, it's hard to say he got a bad deal... And that bundle may be gone by E3.
Most importantly, you can't put a value on the entertainment provided by having a system you actually want to use over the next few months (compared to console boredom, or even worse, the desire to buy games you don't want because you need new games to play). Come MK8 and E3, he will be well into his back catalog of Wii U gems. And if he has any friends, he has a great lineup to entertain company with over this spring.
I don't see the purpose of waiting for the sake of maybe getting a better deal or different bundle. Time is more valuable than money. And having games you want to play maximizes your available gaming time.
I would have kept the Xbox One though, the Wii U provides some unique, amazing experiences, but it also misses out on quite a bit from the other consoles, but, at least you do have a back log of games to go through.
I was kind of like you in that I jumped back in Nintendo's camp due to nostalgia, but I am somewhat disappointed with the Wii U (although it's not a bad system),...........it's probably good to have another option though, be it another console, pc, or the portable option.
im really loving DK right now. Looks beautiful. Playing it reminds me of the old days... I am very happy with my decision to trade in for the wii u. Now I have to slowly start building my collection, starting here with wii u , then working my way back. There are lots of great titles on the wii I would love to get as well.
@ACK E3 as you probably know already is where a lot of the games coming out next year will be announced/shown this would of allowed him to see the games that would be available over a large period of time to avoid disappointment later on.
