I actually started writing this for another thread but this one seems more fun.
Honestly, I've been thinking a bit and... it's actually a good thing that Nintendo doesn't have any third-party support for the Wii U as of yet: it determines that the survival of the platform does not rest within third-parties, something PlayStation and XBox definitely can't even envision. What's more, it also tells that when third-parties will ultimately be coming to the Wii U, they will have to actually work on their ports to make money, unlike what they are doing now: they will actually have to make good Wii U games to be profitable on the Wii U. So that's the first thing I wanted to point out on third-parties on Wii U regarding their relevant in the state of console.
Next thing I wanted to say is, third-party games do not launch a console. As funny as my example is, I take that of the Wii U. The Wii U launched with the biggest number of games any console launch ever had iirc, among which were two first-party games and a plethora of third-party games. Launch was, iirc, better than that of the PS3 and XBox 360 — combined for certain regions when counted within a smaller span — yet the following months, lacking exclusive first-party content, were nothing short of a nightmare. Why get a new console for games already playable on already owned consoles? Why bother with the supplemental purchase when these third-party games are multiplatform anyway?
The advantage the Wii U gained from this situation is the following: exposure for indie games. With the lack first- and third-party games, indie games are now an integrated part of a Wii U owner's library. With first-party releases on the rise backed with rightfully crafted indie games, where the abundance of third-party multiplatforms will kill the PS4 and XBO post-launch is where their sheer absence will benefit the Wii U.
P.S.: I'll do my best and read the full article since it did create a good mood on these forums.
You actually took this seriously? This is beyond stupid. Third-Party's didn't do very well on the Wii, hence the lack of support. Third-Partys aren't scared of Nintendo, they're scared developing for a Nintendo platform will result in losses instead of profit. Wii U won't sell half of 240 M, it will be lucky to sell a quarter of that at this point. It not gonna beat the other consoles like that either. Wii didn't save the industry from crashing, not many poeple aside from Nintendo profited from the Wii, and Just Dance is where the profit usually came from when others made profit. I can't believe I wasted my time reading this piece of trash. I'm not going to bother replying more stupid things on that, it would take way an eternity.
In other words.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
Firstly; no. Nintendo did drop the ball with the Wii U and first impressions are impossible to repeat. Previous sour third-party sales with Wii games and the vast difference in power from the Wii U to the Xbox One/PS4 has also driven publishers and developers away from creating games for Nintendo's home consoles.
Secondly; how is this a conspiracy? If anything, it's similar to a declaration of success. If Microsoft, Sony, and several publishers were attempting to jeopardize the continued success of Nintendo, THAT would be a conspiracy.

With the way the industry is going anymore, I honestly think it NEEDS to crash by this point.
And just like the last time, Nintendo will rise from the ashes.
I guess it does but are you really willing to not having any new releases for a couple years?
Considering that I'm a Nintendo-only person, there's no way I could afford to feed more then two libraries (DS/3DS being the second one) and that most games offered by MS/Sony don't appeal to me, such a possibility doesn't bother me at all. Even if there are no Nintendo games for two years, there's always a backloggery to fall back on.
