I would rather we get Diddy Kong as the DK rep and have some other heavyweight villain join the roster. Dr. Wily or Eggman in some giant machine perhaps idk. I just really dislike K Rool in general.

Shovel Knight would be a good choice, but then all of the hardcore Nintendo fanboys will say "OH WHO'S THIS GUY WE DON'T WANT HIM WE NEED GOKU SHREK AND GENO FOR THIS GAME!!!!1111!!!!!!!"
The same survey I mentioned has more votes for Shrek than Simon Belmont. . .
I messed up, Shovel Knight is actually the second most popular vote after King K. Rool, but only by a little. Still surprised to see how much love he got for the ballot.
So shovel knight is the most popular choice out of a survey of 2098 votes over at the Smash Reddit and Smashboards. I can dig it!

Huh, your avatar is awfully convenient for me: I voted for Wonder Red. Close second would be Bayonetta, but Wonder Red would just be an awesome fit.
Inklings wouldn't be a bad choice--I really like their design and they'd probably would have been my third choice. K.Rool would be cool....IF they used his DKC2 pirate version. The orignal one is kinda lame and lacking moveset variety. It definiltey couldn't hurt to have Snake back as long as they balanced him: I have to admit snapping scrubby Little Mac necks would be SOOOO awesome.
I know I'm goinna get flack for it, but I'd say a big NO on Shovel Knight. I just don't think he's that great and he was a scrub in his own game (green orb + shovel spike spam=OP) I'd hate to see how he'd play out in a fighting game. But I guess that wouldn't be my only unpopluar opinion. I was kinda happy to see Lucas get cut...clone+scrubby c-stick up spam=I didn't miss him. Hopefully they balance that attack though.
