@Captain_Toad
It's not exactly a cartoon but okay.

Here's another image of Squid Girl for the thread. I think this one fits nicely.

Not to sound mean, but I really hope you can choose to be a boy character in this game. It would feel strange to me playing as a little girl that turns into a squid.

...what?

DO you guys think we're going to see a public multiplier beta for this game before releases?

WAT!

Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.

Guys, time to worry. This is a 1st party Nintendo title, so I'm guessing no voice chat?

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

Outside of friend matches? I doubt it.

No. I'm expecting a local multiplayer demo with a cap of 30. It would be nice though...

Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

You never know, they may add it to friend matches though (that way if you are offended or harassed, you can simply disable voice chat/block/unfriend them).

Ah crap. Probably not. :/ I would really love it in this type of game too.

@shingi_70 Considering Nintendo never does that unless it's a demo included in some other game, I doubt it.

The only glimmer of hope for voice chat outside of friends matches is that:
1. This was made by one of Nintendo's younger teams. Maybe they get it.
2. Maybe Nintendo realizes the importance of being able to communicate in a team based shooter.

Also, does anyone else think this has a nickelodeon-esque feel to it? Reminds me of back in the day with SlimeTime Live and DoubleDare 2000

Wow that's quite clever, kind of like an action version of go? Just about everything Nintendo showed of upcoming Wii U titles is on my buy list. I don't think I've ever been this jazzed about a games console before!

The online is cool but it's kinda weird there only being a single player local. If you want to do the LAN mode then you'll need eight Wii Us and eight TVs. Why not have a four player split screen?

edit: also my local TV news just did a bit from E3. Splatoon was the only Nintendo game they gave screentime to before they moved onto Sony's VR thing. So that's something. Surprised they showed any footage of it, I assume they were impressed by the demo.

Can you verify this with a source? Having no local multiplayer would be an extremely weird choice for a console that thrives on local multiplayer.

When I saw this game, I completely skipped over watching it. Maybe I should go back and take a look...but...totally uninterested.

What, other than the fact that on the showroom floor they have matches running on eight separate Wii Us over LAN?

Not really when you see how the gamepad comes into play.

Nintendo are pushing the GamePad. It's kind of obvious that they want people playing with that controller at official demonstrations of this game.
No local MP would be suicude for this game.
Either way, that source does not confirm no local MP.

To be fair the "jumping to character location" thing could almost be done with a button press. Just make it so that you jump to the next character rather than a specific one. And the coverage map could easily be shared with the GamePad placed on the table or something. Plus even if it is just online I can see people wanting to play with the Pro Controller.

Well they were more than happy to make exceptions for Smash Bros and they never ran Mario Kart like that at any event. And in any case, what do you expect to find in terms of a source? There has only been no talk of this game not being one-person-per-console at all. On the official website they don't mention non-online modes at all. They simply state that it's an online game where two teams of four compete.

Because of the way that it has been talked about I'm going to assume that there's no local multiplayer until it is either confirmed or shown.
