I think that in terms of people who are doing more shooting than territory painting levelling might fix that? I can't imagine people will be levelling up very quickly if they aren't trying to complete the main objectives and working with their team towards victory so you'd just leave them behind, no?
The mechanics are trying to push people away from killing and closer to holding ground. People will ignore those mechanics at first but as they continue to play they will learn the meta and play the game correctly. We just need the community to catch up.
They are doing no such thing, in fact, they are BALANCING the two playstyles. You can't cover ground if your enemy is alive, you can't get a good foot hold on the enemy if you aren't covering your ground. Killing players is part of the strategy, not just painting the ground. Part of the fun is defeating and revenge killing.
The map should be put on the screen. It's really annoying to look down, especially in this game. And if no voice chat, they should add more pings, rather than just those silly taunts that are useless. "Need help!" being one of them they should put
"Need help" - with what? Painting the floor? I never was in a match where I had trouble finding floor areas to paint.
Haha are you really trying to shoot down that too? Boy oh boy...
Here's how you dominate Turf War, with almost twice as high score as anyone else in the match.
Is it strange that only just now I discovered that the name 'splatoon' comes from platoon and splat? For some reason, I always thought it came from 'splat and car'toon', because of the art style...

What amiibo are you guys/gals getting?
I pre-ordered the Inkling Girl. I had a chance to get the triple-pack but I really don't care for the design of the other two figures.

I would like to get all 3 of them but I'll have to hunt them down since I didn't get a chance to pre-order them.

I'm in the same boat. I really only want them to unlock everything though... then I'd possibly sell them used to recoup some losses. That is, unless you actually need to keep them to rescan them constantly.
for some reason...I want a trench warfare type mode ala WW1. Straight up epic arena/coliseum style 8v8. each start at one end no obstacles. a moshpit of colors clashing.
Wouldn't that give snipers a crazy advantage?
Weapon restrictions can be in place for rollers and snipers. Those 2 would excel at that kind of environment. I want it to be a seriously fought for victory.. Ink, sweat, and tears.

I ment they are pushing players towards that strategy because most shooters just have players shoot each other. By pushing players towards that strategy, they are wanting players to do more than just shoot each other. Finding the balance between the two, not replacing one with the other.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Rollers would be at a disadvantage because it would be easy to see them coming. Roller's biggest strength is surprise. With out obstacles there is no where to hide. Snipers, since they have the longest range, would have the advantage.
