I so hope there's a Sheldon's choice standard roller included. I'd love a different sub on the Krak-on or a different special on the Splat. Echolocator would be perfect.
From what they showed, each weapon looks like it's only getting either the special or sub changed, I think, like how the Tentatek Choice's special is still Inkzooka, but the sub is now splat bombs, rather than burst.
Yay for the new Bamboozler, can't wait to see what the sub and special wapons are. It looks like this will be paid content though, what do you guys think?
Hoping against better judgement that the NZap might get some update too, but very excited that the updates will continue. Now if Splatoon were around at launch, maybe de Wii U might have gone a different path.

@Freeon-Leon Hmm. Part of me wants to say payed, part thinks free. Free because it still costs 2000 coins ingame, whereas the Amiibo weapons were far cheaper than that, but with the picture of the box, that reminds me of paid DLC.
But either way, I've put an awful lot of time into this. If they put a roller in there, I'll happily buy this. We've had so much free content, and only about half of that could have made 'the full game'.

Same! I've put over 500 hours into Splatoon... I don't have a problem! lol And even if it is paid DLC, I don't think it will be very much at all, especially if it's just a few weapons, and no new stages. Can't wait for the new Slosher!

Do you go headfirst into battle or do you play it safe and more defensively?
(I have never played Dragon Quest so if someone could possibly explain the connection of the themes to the game? @DiscoGentleman has helped translate some of the direct for me and said that it was mentioned that these were commands of some kind)
Noice. I'm digging those ability changes, and these are — for me — the highlights of the other adjustments:
"Until now, team assignments in Ranked Battle were completely random, but some consideration will now be given to equipped weapons when assigning teams."
"During Ranked Battles, when a team plays at a disadvantage due to unavoidable issues such as teammates being disconnected, and then loses, the winning team’s points will be decreased by an amount proportional to the time they benefited from the above conditions."

I think that the content they're offering didn't really justify any kind of price, since the game already has so much gear and weaponry. On the other hand, they seemed to have branded this in such a way that sets themselves up for an in-game shop with the "box" and the Sheldon-Selects angle. I'm not sure, honestly.
I'm loving those ability buffs in the upcoming update. Now Last-Ditch Effort has a notable use in Ranked, Special Duration has a use for Killer Wail and Inkstrike specials, and Bomb Sniffer has uses for veteran players. I love it!
@Yokokazuo From my experience with lots of time spent with IX (That game is huuuuuuuge! XD), You can either rush headlong into battle, or you can defend, see what the enemy can do, and take less damage.
These changes do at least show that Ninty has listened to what people have said. We said that Recon was rubbish. Now it's... Less rubbish. I'm actually really excited about this.
Well, most of it. The jury's out on Splatfest atm. If they add ranked matches, I'm fine with this. But skill in ranked =/= skill in turf. I guess we'll get teammates of similar standards though...
It's kinda funny how I was talking with my friend again about abilities recently and we questioned if Last Ditch Effort worked in overtime. Turns out it doesn't but now it will.
It will also give quick-spawning effects... Looks like the Visor Stake Helmet is going to become one of my regulars.

So it's basically Japan's take on Europe's "Barbarian vs. Ninja" Splatfest. I would have picked Barbarian for that one if I were European, so I'd have to go for "Go All Out!" for this one.
Oh, and just a reminder that I will be on tomorrow, and probably sunday, organizing some private battles. If you want to voice your interest now, do so, if you don't, just turn up at about 4pm GMT tomorrow, and we'll get at least a private match organized.
Wow. Just wow! I didn't see the Direct and now I read about all those fundamental ability changes!
They basically make all the abilities/items that were useless to me extremely useful! Damn, that means I have to unlock tons of other item slots. ^^
@TheXReturns: I probably won't make it tomorrow (watching the Bundesliga's topgame between Dortmund and Bayern ), but maybe on Sunday. Haven't played Splatoon for some while now though...
