I can imagine Splatoon having a racing mode, as the squids were quite fast and the concept of painting the fastest path to the finish line and going squid until the end whilst rivals teams are disrupting your path and such... Thoughts?

Maybe as a unlockable Minigame or something?
Or even better the whole area/arena is covered in your team and the opposing teams ink and you must race to the finish in squid mode only and since your ink crosses with other players ink you'd have to jump over it and other obstacles and scale walls!

Saying it right now but i'm expecting Splatoon to carve out its own niche and become oddly competitive in esports the same way smash did against more tradional. Will fit right in with Call of Duty and the Return of the king with the new Halo.

I'm surprised Suidgirl is so popular already, I wonder if they may take Splatoon down the cartoon/anime route.
I'd love to see them consider it. With the right handling, I think this could be a massive game for Wii U. We're sort of seeing that the usual big Nintendo franchises aren't really boosting hardware, but are selling to the Nintendo fans that already bought the console. What started the DS's success? Brain Age and Nintendogs. What started the Wii's huge success? Wii Sports and Wii Fit. New IP could be the answer again. Don't let it be another W101 that gets huge buzz on the internet and then flops on the market. Make Splatoon something that is recognised before it hits the shops.

So for local multiplayer, it looks like it will have a mode that uses asymmetric gameplay. One person with the GamePad and another with the Pro Controller. Focuses more on stalking and hiding in the ink. A 4 vs 4 splitscreen local multiplayer mode seems to still be on the table.
Interesting. Online multiplayer seems to be the main focus. Singleplayer campaign will be interesting to see.
Predicting a May release, or a delay and an August/September release. Probably a $50 game. Needs to be a retail game or it won't get attention outside of current Wii U owners. It has attention from people who don't own the system right now, so they need to make sure it continues to do so.
I watched a GameXplain video today on this game and they talked about how it could have different character classes and it got me thinking maybe there is a heavy duty character, a quick squidteen (just made that up) or will guns change how you play? Also will there be bigger maps and melee weapons?
