I like it and had fun but I hate the controls. the tilt to look up and down and the joystick to look left and right is annoying. On a joystick I would like to look in all directions with.
Just finished playing this game for the first time ever, and I have to admit I'm both excited and in need of more. Is a feeling I didn't had for a long time with a videogame. Nintendo hit all the right spots with this one and we've only starting to see the beginning of a great franchise.
This demo sealed the deal for me. I was worried that my internet connection wouldn't be able to play it, but it only kicked me out once and lagged twice. Like an earlier post says the Rollers are OP, but they can be taken down quickly if you see them coming. Me and my little brother had a blast playing so the 29th can't come fast enough.
That was a blast! The paint roller does seem to be the weapon of choice, though, and I'm sure there will be a lot of people using it. Didn't care for the Splat Charger. Too focused on eliminating the other team rather than area coverage. Splattershot Jr. also didn't feel good to me, but loved the reg. Splattershot.
This was really fun. I'm more excited about this game than I ever been have, but there's this problem. There are so many times I wanted to say "Go to that area", "Don't follow me, we can cover more ground if we split up" "I need you to watch my back while I'm painting the enemy base", but I just couldn't, and that's a real problem.
In the heat of the battle, people are more focused on doing what they're currently doing, and don't know if a team member needs help or if there's an empty base they could paint. But we could fix that problem if we could communicate with each other.
I had a real blast, but that one thing kept the experience from being perfect.

You could've changed that on the settings, after the tutorial. Try it later on the next test.
Just happened to get home before 11pm and remembered to check the demo out when I got into bed. Here are my thoughts...
-aiming mechanics are garbage. The phrase 'spray and pray' comes to mind. No skill required and even if you had skill, it wouldn't matter since aiming and shooting feels so sloppy. This is a 'competitive shooter' for people who don't know how to compete
-lack of voice chat hurts. Not in how I originally thought, in that it would prevent players from strategizing (hint: there is no strategy, just run all over and paint walls and boxes) but in that it makes the game feel like an empty void. There are about 5 sound effects in the game and a song that constantly loops while you play. You may as well be playing against bots as there is no indication that you are even playing against real humans
-this is minor, but the graphics are rather 'meh'. I realize this was done to keep the game at 60FPS, but it looks overly simplistic and to me at least, not very interesting.
I did like the squid morphing concept, that was unique, but over all this game doesn't seem like it will live up to the hype.
I anticipate review scores in the 7 to 7.5 range for this one. Not a fan, and I won't be picking this up.

Same dude but, it was a blast can't wait to play later.

Oh i love this post! I'm not even kidding!
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
Anybody else think the paint roller is completely unbalanced?
Like seriously, you run fast enough as it is... you cover a wide area of turf, and OHKO everyone in your path. The majority of the time my entire team was just paint rollers, and we won 100% of the time just running around and sneeking up on players.
Not really. You can't go fast, your weapon takes a second to start, and you can't take out anyone not directly in front of you. People just don't know how to deal with them yet. The Sniper gun is pretty cool, in that, as opposed to being primarily used to hit people from far away, you can use it to create a long road through enemy territory. The subweapons are pretty balanced, but the Jr. Gun's super shield is completely awful and only lasts for like 3 seconds. Warping to your teammates is also a vital strategy.
Overall, I love the gyro controls. Very close to a mouse+keyboard, and I have a feeling that analogue stick users are going to be at a distinct disadvantage once the full game comes out and people get practice in.
I will do that next time. Didn't know there was an option to turn off gyro controls. I also wasnt going to look online in the limited hour to find out either. Thanks though.
Used the roller for most of it. At the start the roller was seriously OP, dominated everything. Towards the end EVERYONE was targeting me. One of the last matches I played I was dead last out of my group and had a kill/death ratio of 2/9. So I don't think it's OP so much, I think it's more that people weren't quite into the idea of the game towards the start.
The most successful games I had my team had me as the only roller, a sniper and a couple of splatter-guns.

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
The paint roller was seriously unbalanced from what I've seen. I noticed a massive pattern in win/lose ratio.. with whoever had the most rollers, decided the game pretty much. Infact, the ranged weapons were completely useless aside from being able to take out a roller since as a turf grabber, the weapons took forever not to mention you needed to get used to aiming, and they don't take out players in comparasion to the roller destroying players completely.
If the roller was a tad bit slower in speed.. it might've been more balanced, but it's just soooo good to the point there is 0 reason to use other weapons besides trying to counter other rollers. (since roller vs. roller is pretty much a stalemate).
Perhaps when thing settle down a bit in the final release.. things will become a bit easier to deal with, but regardless, from what I'm hearing in chats and through experience, it was just very OP from a user and a fighter's perspective... there can also be the bias of the players you're fighting, who knows what's considered good skill level in a game we only got to try for an hour...
I'm surprised how much fun I had with this considering I'm not a big fan of shooters. Even though this was already gonna be a Day 1 purchase, it's now a guaranteed Day 1 purchase.
I can see why the rollors may be a bit off balance but I found with a good splatter shot running with the roller person useful as you can cover them a bit. I think is there was a bit more open of a map instead of a bunch of corridors it might be a bit different.
