My god. Why can't Europe get their own times? Or at least EXTEND the global duration? I know it's weekend but still!
It's more of a Stress Test so Nintendo needs to do this at a set time to test how much the servers can handle. Assuming online isn't region locked.
Although that only makes the times they choose look even more brain dead stupid since they're not peak hours for the majority of the world. Guessing the time is convenient for Japan.

Yeah, I'm not sure myself. The guy design has since grown on me and I think the lighter brown skin tone (which I'll be choosing) suits him a bit better, not to mention that (despite avatar and NL username) I'm a guy. In the case of Pokémon, I always choose to be a male because the character's meant to be you and the same applies here for me. On the other hand; I prefer the girl design overall and I liked it from the start.

They're peak times for the West Coast....so, like, 2 or 3 states and 3 or 4 provinces in two countries...

Nintendo is advertising this as a demo but you got to keep in mind that it's not. There's literally nothing you can do in the demo until the allotted time to maximize the number of people online at once so they can test the servers.
Maybe they can release something for single player later but the game is almost out so I doubt it.

Okay, apparently Washington doesn't exist on my mental map of the United States. Which is a shame, since that's apparently where Nintend of America's headquarters is located. Also I apparently made up some Canadian provinces that don't exist. Maybe that's where Washington and the top half of Idaho went. Curse you Canada, taking our land! >=[
