We all know the Wii U is performing poorly right now, but I think a good question is should Iwata lose his job because of it? Many other companies axe their executives after a major blunder (see Ken Kutaragi with the PS3)
I think E3 2014 should be Iwata's last chance. If they delay all their games until 2015, make Zelda U an unimpressive top-down game (you might like the style, but there is no reason for that to be a AAA title on an HD system for 50-60 dollars), and don't announce anything else, yes he should be axed. But I think it's dangerous, because if Iwata is axed, we can't know if Nintendo's new CEO would really carry on Nintendo's values (what if Don Mattrick gets hired!?!?!).
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

Iwata is not the problem Reggie is. (Or the things that Reggie doesn't do that his predecessor did are the things that they need to do).
I've seen enough of these topics across multiple forums and websites to know one thing. People love being negative towards Nintendo. The Wii U is Iwata's 4th device under his lead, with the first 3 being highly successful. Why people feel he should be fired for one mistake when others in the gaming industry have done far worse is anyone's guess, other than simply as stated before.
He shouldn't be fired, but he should go in time-out to think about what he's done.
Shareholders: Iwata, go sit on the stairs for 30 seconds.
Iwata: But shaaaareeeehollllldeeeerrssss....
Shareholders: Do you want it to be a minute?
Iwata: Fiiiiiinnnnneeee
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
I think he should get the boot. Yeah I know, unpopular opinion. But he's screwed enough now, and honestly, I've had enough of his 'please understand' nonsense.
Maybe they can even play this as it happens, and show it in a Nintendo Direct:
I'd say let's wait a bit. You can't have massive successes like the Wii without being willing to take big risks. In addition, I think quite a few of Nintendo's problems (the "kiddie" stigma, not going for Western devs, etc.) stem from decisions Nintendo made decades ago when Iwata wasn't CEO.
Also, Reggie is not the problem at all. It's not his fault that he was given a crappy hand with the Wii U. That thing is impossible to sell to people who aren't the biggest Nintendo fans. It's a Japanese machine built with a Japanese market in mind. Reggie is a big part of why the Wii was such a massive success in the U.S.
Best thread ever
Feel free to add me on Miiverse or PSN.
Miiverse is Moomoo14, PSN is Moomoo1405390

His predecessor sorted out problems.
Here is what Howard Lincoln/Minoru Arakawa were able to accomplish in 7 years (1994 through 2000).
They discovered Rareware (Made them second party in 1994)
Retro Studios (Founded and established as second party in 1998 – Became first party later.)
Silicon Knights (Became second party on May 2000)
Left Field (Became second party in 1998)
NST – Nintendo Software Technology (Founded in 1998)
Built relationship with LucasArts and Factor 5 (Rogue Squadron 1+2+3).
Established relationship with DMA Design who later became Rockstar Games (One of N64′s original Dream team members)
So what happens after they retire? Everything that Arakawa and Lincoln accomplished between the years of 1994 through 2000 went down the toilet after new management takes control of NCL and NOA.
Rareware gets sold in Microsoft in 2003
Left Field ditches their second party status by the end of 2002. Buys back Nintendo’s minority stake in the company and goes independent.
Silicon Knights ditches Nintendo in 2004
Factor 5 releases “Star Wars: Rebel Strike” in 2003. Last game they make exclusively for Nintendo. Never works with Nintendo again.
Game Informer claims Rockstar Games was working on GTA3 port for GameCube to be released in fall 2002. The GameCube version gets cancelled. (link)
As each year passed, NST’s role in the company became smaller and smaller. They eventually became reduced to making random DSiware/eShop casual games instead of making full fledged games.
