Is this still only possible by a direct system to system transfer? I Googled it of course, but the results I found were pretty old, I was hoping for something more recent. I might need to sell my Wii U, but I don't want to lose my data in case I can buy another one in the future. Am I hosed, or can I hang onto a thumbnail drive with my saved games and stick it in a new system and go?
@Gremstein I suggest you contact Nintendo directly and ask if they can transfer data held on a hard drive to a new system without the old system being involved. I'm not sure I like your chances.
