And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)

Considering that it ends in less than three months, you'd think Nintendo would stop slapping the DDP/NNP logo on each Wii U box and advertising it.

Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)

That would cost money but it still makes it something absolutely worth paying for. (I don't use Netflx or Amazon Instant Video or Spotify tons but i still pay for them).

Ya, and I acknowledge that, but in this case, Nintendo just cheaped out to the point where it's easier for them to make online free, instead of charging like Xbox and PS. The overall price for doing so has dropped, compared to 2001, that's why they make services like Games with Gold and PS+ a thing. They still want the money that people pay for online, so they're obligated to offer more services, otherwise people won't think they're getting value for their money.

I dunno I think Sony was desperate that is why they started giving away all those games. Now Microsoft has had to follow.

Is it still true more people are buying games for Xbox ? (As they are less in the habit of getting stuff for free).

I'm sure that is why. They realized giving away free internet features on a service technically just as demanding as Xbox Live was biting them in the rear end, big time, so they add an optional service on PS3 to compensate a bit, while simultaneously doing what I would consider as prepping future PS4 owners to pay for required PS+.

As for the games selling more on Xbox thing... the last time I checked, 5 million Xbox One owners have 3 games average, and 10 million PS4 owners also have 3 games average. So, Xbox One is technically selling as many games as PS4 is, with around half the consoles, and Wii U has a better average than either of them, even with considerong that it's been out longer. None of them are doing bad, per se, but PS4 has still sold the least games with the highest install base.

Here's a better question: do they have to reward anyone?

No, but it's a good way to build customer loyalty.
It's the same thing for Club Nintendo. They don't have to reward us but it's an incentive to buy the 3DS/Wii U versions of cross-platform games.

Sony sent me a $10 PSN code last year for being a loyal customer. They didn't have to do that but it was a nice gesture.
Little "prizes" like that build customer loyalty.

For being a loyal customer (I bought lots of Rock Band, Guitar Hero and Rocksmith DLC), Microsoft gave me 10% rebate on all marketplace purchases for a year (part of the Xbox Live Rewards program). Nintendo really needs to either keep their current promotion or add a great alternative.

It's weird how fast the two years has gone by...

I've been given a total of $50 worth of codes.
It'd be nice if they'd roll another program out. Maybe for the original Wii U ambassadors.

It doesn't feel like 2 years, because after the launch there was a lull for nearly a year where barely any games came out and everything was getting delayed, lol. In reality they should probably give us at least an extra 6 months to make up for how useless the promotion was for that stretch of time and how all their games are probably behind schedule by at least that much anyway.

It depends on how many games you were buying and playing. I was buying at least 1 game a month, even if it was indie, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate lasted me around 200 hours, I think. That's like 30 minutes a day for an entire year. If you weren't buying digital retail games, then you probably didn't get much benefit from the deluxe digital promo, but in my case, I bought basically every retail game I have on the eShop, plus indie games. The only games I didn't buy on eShop, were the ones that were only available as disc, like CoD, Mass Effect, and the Nintendo Land disc, which I didn't bother getting as digital.

EDIT: NVM. My Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate file says around 200 hours. That's still 30 minutes a day, for a year.
