Hello all.
Got a new Nintendo Wii u.
All connected (had to buy a Wii u an additional component connector to the 5 colour one for t.v.)
Any way all plugged in as should be. The handset works but can't connect to wii u as can't see screen. All turned on and nothing on my tv through component or HDMI . Tried on other tv's and nothing. Just says no signal.
Have I bought a duff nintendo?....
@Etyzzer You've got it plugged it and it's getting power, right? Just making sure. A blue or red light (can't remember) should be on when it's powered. The system itself by the way, not the tablet controller.
Also, what is this component connector you're using, and why do you need it? It comes with an HDMI cable, and that should be enough.
Hi all. It's new when I got xmas 2016 but could never get it to work so gave up on trying but found this forum.
All plugged in used HDMI then the connector cable but none work just says no signal on tv.
Power on yes. You can put the disks in but nothing on the tv.
are the component cables the ones you just put in the console, then if it is then there is an option in the settings called tv connection or something similar, then just switch it to non hdmi
Tried many hdmi cables . Light on yes and fires up just not on to tv. You can turn game pad on fine. But can't connect it 2 tv as I can't see tv to sync it with icons.
did you try putting in a new battery in it and you have to tune it in to your tv hope that this might help you i had the same thing so this is what i did
@Etyzzer Yeah, I think it has to do with you TV's settings. Did you make sure you put it on the right channel? If it's plugged in the HDMI 1 port, make sure the channel is HDMI 1.
@Etyzzer Last option. Turn on your PS4, just the menu is enough and make sure it works. Unplug the HDMI cable and plug it into the Wii U (also turned on). If that doesn't work, it could be that HDMI port in your Wii U is broken.
I just had a similiar problem with my Wii U. The TV said no signal but Wii U was connected with HDMI and gamepad was on.
What I did was go into settings on gamepad and then something like TV settings, can't remember exactly without looking at it but then there was an option to change the resolution, I changed it from 1080p to 1080i and then I think it restarted and appeared on the TVjust fine. The problem I guess in my case is that my TV is quite old.
Anyway maybe that will help you out, try different resolutions and see if you get a picture.
Another idea, you say you have a wii, do you have the composite cables from that? (Yellow, red, white) if so they will work on the Wii U just plug them in and select the right channel, that should at least show you if your Wii U can connect to a TV at all
I've used the normal Wii component cables too the red white and yellow ones and the 5 colour cables and none work on any of the channels I've checked everyone
Ahh, thats a problem if you cant even get past the icons screen, no idea what to do in that case, sorry
Edit: Stupid question but have you tried turning the Wii U on from the console itself rather than from the gamepad, im thinking maybe the gamepad is on but th Wii U is still in standby...
Update all.
Tried 1 final go. On all 3 tv's in the house.
Tried it via HDMI 1 then HDMI 2 and even used both end of HDMI in console incase it was a 1 way hdmi. Used the Wii official hdmi and 2 standards..... nothing.....
Then used the red white and yellow cable in tv and tried that and nope nothing....
Put the coloured cables into a scart adapter.....nothing.....
And then used the 5 colour cables
... nothing .....
Can't even get off the game pad screen of the 4 icons i have 2 put in to sync it because I can't see what is on the TV !!!
Totally give up will have 2 sell it.
Can't get refund as it's past it's refund date....
