@Etyzzer Like I said, turn on your Wii U (blue light), and turn on your PS4. Connect your PS4 to your TV. If that works, remove the HDMI cable from your PS4 and plug it into the Wii U. If the system isn't broken, it should work. If that doesn't work, there's something wrong with your Wii U. You could send it to Nintendo and have them look at it, but I don't know if they still do that.

@Octane I've tried that. Plug from ps4 which was working then into Wii U and nothing....

@Etyzzer Then I'm certain there's something wrong with your Wii U, most likely the HDMI port.

@Octane well the HDMI. And all other ports don't work it seems. I'll just have 2 sell it 4 someone 2 fix

This might not be all that helpful, but if you are willing to spend some time it is possible to guess the sync code. There are only 4 symbols so "only" 256 combinations.

If you get the gamepad synced you would be able to use the console without TV.

Could you post a picture of what you see on your GamePad? If that works as it should, it should display an option to go to Wii U Menu, right underneath the icons, which are quick start thumb nails. Normally, you should be able to go to full-on Wii U menu on the GamePad, without having to use the TV, and then get into options to change some settings.

@ThanosReXXX Not if it's your first time booting up the system. The TV screen will display a set of four symbols, and you need to enter those in your GamePad. I guess you can brute force it, but you need a TV and a GamePad if it's your first time using it.

@Octane Ah, of course, you're completely right. Forgot all about that first time start up. I was already wondering about that when I saw someone else comment about how many combinations are possible...

Got the HDMI adapter & cord. Hooked to Samsung flat. Wii screen comes up. Both remtes working. SD card & game in. Problem: on home screen none of the boxes are clickable. Music playing. Pressing buttons. Won't scroll or click. I am helpless at this stuff.

@Imjustjody Are you talking about the Wii U or the Wii? If it is the Wii, then you're in the wrong topic, because this one is about Wii U problems.

I had this same issue and this is how I was able to resolve it. When you're on the main screen of the wii-u handset and see the "mii(s)" there is a plus and minus sign on the bottom left that works as a zoom in and out. Click on the minus sign till it zooms out all the way, then you'll see the wrench icon for settings. This is the link to the full setting menus vs the "starter settings" option when you are zoomed in. Click it and hit start. From there you will be given a umber of different options, fifth from the left is a picture of a tv with the wrench. Upon clicking it, you will need to click the icon once more on the top to be able to get to the "Set TV Connection Type, Resolution, etc...." From there, I was able to change the connection type from HDMI to composite as well as the resolution. Once I did that, I was up and running, hopefully this will help others.

@Etyzzer have you tried Wii2HDMI converter? Search it on the net... it uses AV port of your Wii U then it has HDMI port output. 1080p supported. This little thing might help you solve your problem. I hope your wii u is still with you.
