Why September? WHY?

Because it is when the anniversary is afaik.

You are correct. SMB1 was released in Japan on September 13th 1985.

I'm going to guess either the 11th or the 18th is the release date since the 13th fall on a Sunday.

Because everything awesome happens in September... like my birthday

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I'm impressed that they're gonna let you make your own worlds. I can't wait to play entire custom campaigns from talented people

This is going to be so great. Really looking forward to downloading tons of fan-made levels. Just imagine how many youtube videos are going to be made showcasing the best levels out there.

Currently Playing:
Mario Golf World Tour (3DS) ~ MarioKart 8, Hyrule Warriors (WiiU)

Hopefully I'll be able to go all out with the Super Mario World stuff, like, different areas for single levels...Also no limitations, that stuff kinda bugs me in their games, like the Stage Builder in Smash. Wanna make some decently long levels, or some complex ones like with the haunted houses.

There's going to be a whole lot of Kaizo levels I can say that for sure.

Wonder if they will have Boo's and Bob-omb's.

The 30th anniversary trailer has Boos and Bob-ombs.

Looking at that trailer again; it's cool to see the giant 8-bit spiny turn into a HD, NSMBU version. 8-bit Wiggler looks funny and the Super Mario Bros. version of Thomp looks interesting. I really hope Yoshi is in it!

Your right, they do.

Hey, you're on to something there! Maybe we could play an 8-bit Yoshi in Super Mario Bros. like what Miyamoto originally wanted.

Also, there may be a way to allow players to make a sequence of levels; three levels and then a boss fight.

The parakeets from the 3DS sound maker are a nice touch.

Items/Objects/Mechanics:
Frog Suit
Hammer Suit
Tanooki Suit
Surface Slopes
Poison Mushrooms
3-Up Moon

Backgrounds:
Night
Ice World
Desert

Enemies:
Pokey
Angry Sun
Spike
Charging Chucks
Banzai Bill
Nipper Plant
Mechakoopa
Koopalings
Boom Boom

These could fit in the game well.

Yeah, I think it's safe to assume that this game will include a good number of sprites, even the boos

Now I'm curious if "Mario Maker" will be getting an "amiibo". I imagine you can just tap the 8-bit "amiibo" to save your levels you've created and take it to your friend's house.

I think amiibo will put an 8/16-bit version of that character in that game and you can play as them, but still with Mario physics, so Kirby doesn't break the entire level.

That would be cool idea, especially if it also works with all Mario series character amiibos.

It would be nice to have the option, but online sharing kinda makes it moot.

It's an impossible idea. The NFC technology can only handle very small amounts of data.

It can be coded, kinda like with the Pushmo/Crashmo level sharing being via QR codes.

If you think about it, it may not need to save much data. All enemy and item behaviors would be saved to the game, not the level. It just needs to save where blocks, coins, and enemies are located, which could just be saved in a text grid of 0, 1, 2, and 3s.

Items can be combined (a cannon can shoot coins, and the coins can have wings, for example). Object ownership and inheritance is not just a grid. And items have at least a size property.

I guess that would make things bigger. I haven't really followed the game so I am not sure how customizable each thing is.

It also really depends on how big the Amiibo storage capacity is. I don't know, but you can store an amazing amount of data in just a few KB's.
