To be honest I think we'll only see a new F-Zero on smartphones as it's a smaller financial risk.

Smaller financial risk, based on what statistics?

Based on it being a bigger install base and a cheaper dev cycle. More sales + less dev cost = more money.

The UGXloggery ... really needs an update.

I'm not really looking forward to the 200mph as it looks more like a pro racing game. I hope online players stick to 150

That and DLC Mute City racetrack, Captain Falcon Mii with Blue Falcon and we get almost F-Zero on Wii U, almost.
If Nintendo won't release next installment this generation, at least I hope I will download FAST Racing NEO (no news and release date about this game for some time though), just like I did with FAST - Racing League on Wii.

Other than that I'm looking forward to the new class and second DLC pack for Mario Kart 8

probably based on how no racers outside Mario Kart have sold well on the past couple Nintendo systems. F-Zero is a hardcore racer and to me it's obvious that Nintendo don't have millions of fans waiting for it to come out so I can see why they don't see it as viable.

I'm pretty stoked about the latest dlc pack + 200cc update.

The dlc in itself is great value and add quite bit to the longevity of the game. The way it looks to me is that with the 200cc update, we will have to relearn the tracks to capitalize on the speed and with it comes new strategies. Imo Nintendo is doing a good job at giving the game some legs for a nice long run.

I totally agree. Adding 200cc is an excellent way to breathe new life into the game and give it a whole new competitive edge. I'm really excited for it and I'm really glad Nintendo did it. And of course, the DLC releasing right alongside it will make April 23 one fantastic day.

Does anybody else think since new characters like Link and Villager are joining Mario Kart that eventually guys like Kirby, Samus, and others will join? Basically... a NINTENDO KART? I would be perfectly fine with a Nintendo Kart but then again... Mario Kart's name already has legacy and doing a Nintendo Kart would take soooo much work.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I was playing one on one last night and I realized something. They switch to side by side split screen. What the hell was Nintendo smoking? That perspective only lets me see half the track. I was forced to make tight turns without seeing where I was going.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

Nothing..
Today there are only 16:9-ish TV Screens out there. Of course they have to make the split screen vertically..
Imagine how it would look like horizontally. lol

Yea. And that looks horrible.
That's the point. As MKWii was new, there weren't that many 16:9 TVs out as today. So the advantages of a horizontal split. is a must because of the visibility of the game at cost of the looks of it. Now that there's more space on the tv, they can use vertical split.. And there are no backdraws. The visibility of the game is just fine.. I play split screen all the time.

I prefer the vertical split by a long shot.

There is a huge drawback. I was playing with a friend yesterday, and there were multiple times where I made a turn, but couldn't see where I was going because of the split screen. That's a huge problem, especially with an inside drift bike, which I tend to use. I don't run into this problem in single player or 4 player mutliplayer, it's an exclusive issue of vertical split screen.

MKWii looked just fine in split screen. If there was a visual downgrade, so what, I don't play Mario Kart for the visuals, I play it for the gameplay.

First. Sorry if I sounded a little harsh. Wasn't my intention. Was a little grumpy yesterday.

Yeah.. Inside drift bikes are a problem. Split screen or not, the camera is a little problematic on drifts. I don't know why it acts like this, but it's only with inside drift bikes. Maybe Nintendo could patch this a little. Then I would use them again... maybe. But apart from that I have no problem. If anything I get confused of that space to the left and right when playing solo. ;P
I really prefer vertical split.. It's like having your own TV for me in 4:3 format.. all most. Horizontal looks pretty stretched, and I get the feeling a big part of the screen is missing. It's just meh. :3

To the visuals point.
If we would play for the visuals, we wouldn't play Nintendo games. But I'm a person that needs a little eye candy when playing. It brings a little more fun to it. It's not essential of course.

The fundamental issue is that I really only use inside drift bikes. I'm nowhere near as good with anything else.

The presentation values of MK8 is a great deal of the playing experience. All the details happening in the background, the details in the textures, the live-recorded music, the replay videos, the face and body animations, and so on. It gives the game lots of life life.

MKWii doesn't have anti-gravity, so the vertical space would be of little use in that title, while the player's vertical screen estate is crucial to MK8.

There's a rumor that GCN Baby Park and 3DS Neo Bowser City are two of the retro tracks in the upcoming DLC pack.

This is according to a file system with a list of tracks and audio.

3DS_NEOBOWSERCITY = 3DS Neo Bowser City
GC_BABYPARK = GCN Baby Park
WU_ANIMAL = Animal Crossing
WU_METRO = ?
WU_WOODS = ?

Could "Metro" refer to a city or even a Metroid track? And what about the "Woods" track?

Actually, the "Woods" track might refer to the screenshot of woods shown when the DLC packs were first revealed.
The "Woods" track would be on the lower right.
