I'm kind of glad I can't see my online multiplayer statistics for this game.
It'd be even more annoying when lag messes me up if I knew there was a record being kept of it.
In general though, I'd probably prefer my online games showing some statistics.
Kinda strange how Mario Kart Wii actually had quite a bit, yet they went a bit backwards from there with Mario Kart 7 and then took it out completely in Mario Kart 8.
It's almost as if they are the local elementary school sport where everyone wins. Even the losers where they don't keep score as to not encourage competition. Then at the end of the sports season everyone gets a ribbon or metal for participation and we all win.
So using this logic I've never lost a match online and I always win no matter what happens. Even if I'm in last place I'm still a winner!!!
At least Mario Kart TV gives us a way of capturing results.
I do enjoy posting videos of my friends getting their butts kicked to their Facebook timelines and stuff like that.
I see Dolphin Shoals low on a few of those lists and I have to agree! It's a shame that I don't enjoy racing there, because it really is a good looking course and the music is GREAT! I just can never do well there =P
This would probably be my order, roughly... New tracks
1. Cloudtop Cruise
2. Rainbow Road
3. Mount Wario
4. Electrodrome
5. Sweet Sweet Canyon
6. Sunshine Airport
7. Thwomp Ruins
8. Bony-Dry Dunes
9. Bowser's Castle
10. Shy Guy Falls
11. Twisted Mansion
12. Toad Harbour
13. Mario Circuit
14. Mario Kart Stadium
15. Water Park
16. Dolphin Shoals
I think I understand why you'd put Dolphin Shoals on the bottom. It's ridiculously short, and that makes it damn hard to win against the COM. Plus, the last turn is really slippery. One wrong move and you'll lose the race.
Personally Dolphin Shoals is one of my favorites, despite the bad things about it. However, I'd rank Water Park as the least favorite Nitro track in the game.
As for Retro Tracks, I'd say GCN Dry Dry Desert is my least favorite.
Here's my list:
Favorite Cups & Tracks (in order): 1 is best, 4 is least best.
1) Star Cup - Mount Wario definitely takes the cake as the best track in the game. The rest are also fantastic.
2) Lightning Cup - Grumble Volcano is almost an instant win online & offline, and N64 Rainbow is definitely the most gorgeous track in the entire game. Tick-Tock Clock is surprisingly good because of its complex design for a retro track.
3) Leaf Cup - I prefer Yoshi Valley over the other ones in this cup, even though they're on par with this one. The the track that leaves a sour note is Music Park. See what I did there? . The reason it's kinda bad is because it's generally the same as it was in the 3DS. People even rarely picked it online on the 3DS.
4) Special Cup - It's not exactly a mind blower like the other cups, but it does well in all its tracks but two. Bowser's Castle and Cloudtop Cruise are the best in this cup. Rainbow Road suffers because of one reason; track design. Its visual / art design is good overall, but it feels like there could have been more. Bone-Dry Dunes, unfortunately, is a serious detriment to the cup as a whole.
Least Favorite Cups & Tracks (in order):
5) Mushroom Cup - For the first time in Mario Kart, I actually like the tracks from here. Mario Kart Stadium is such a great way to start off your first time playing Mario Kart 8, or Mario Kart in general if you're new to the series. Water Park (what kind of name is that?!) is so boring and generally bland overall; there's really nothing going for it.
6) Shell Cup - Pretty decent overall. Nothing stands out that much. I'd prefer Cheep Cheep Beach or Toad's Turnpike over Moo Moo Meadows and GBA Mario Circuit.
7) Flower Cup - The only ones that are okay would be Mario Circuit and Shy Guy Falls. I'd only pick them for their catchy music. Twisted Mansion is just a joke to me. It's rarely picked online, and the music is very underwhelming.
8) Banana Cup - The most boring out of all the cups. The main thing you're doing the whole time is drifting from left to right, which gets tiring at some point, and it has one of the worst tracks in the game, Dry Dry Desert. I loved it in Double Dash, but the way it got carried over to MK8 was terrible. The main mechanic from this track is gone, the tornadoes. They could have made them into gliding parts by having you lifted into the air, and since the sand is so slippery, its tight turns are also gone. Plus, the COM are always able to take the turns perfectly, no matter what kart, and that is terrible.
The only good one is DK Jungle because it's almost an instant win online & offline. The difficultly in Hard COM dramatically decreases because of the routes the AI takes.
Wi-Fi Game List:
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Splatoon
Super Smash Bros. Wii U & 3DS + All DLC
Mario Kart 8 + All DLC
Mario Golf: World Tour + All DLC
Mario Kart 7
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
I hate grumble volcano and piranha plant pipeway. On the first, I can barely see anything it's so red and orange, also the turns are from hell, same with pipeway - there is that one turn that I rarely can make, but most of the time I fall off.
Other tracks though are pretty sweet.
Also, I noticed in 150cc that CPU ALSO loses coins, but not speed or just nothing at all, just goes on. It must be some bug.
QUESTION: I thought Mirror Mode was Finish to Start, instead of Start to finish as usual. But is it actually mirrored the other way? Instead of turning right at that point, this time you have to turn left?

Waiting for ShadowforSSB4 to take me up to the heavens.
Favorite Game List:

2#: Terraria
3#: Team Fortress 2

Yep.
You still drive the same direction through the tracks (a lot wouldn't even work the other way), it's just mirrored so the lefts are now rights and the rights are now left.
It can throw you off sometimes once you're really used to all the tracks.
I've had quite a few times where I'll just be cruising along no really thinking, turn the wrong way and crash into the wall.
I'm glad you never have to play Mirror mode online in this game unless you actually choose to.
