Just goes to show that you can't please everyone. Most people are praising this game, some find so many negative things to say about it. I for one am loving it, but it is by no means perfect. Nothing is. The roster still needed work, even though having the Koopalings is great. Baby Rosalina and Pink Gold Peach are unnecessary and, when compared to past characters especially, seem like pointless additions. I may sound like I'm being a bit harsh, but mostly I just feel annoyed more than anything. I've played as these two before, and I don't hate them or anything, but it's all about "what could have been". Diddy Kong, Birdo, Dry Bones, etc. should still be here. I'm also still having issues playing online. It seems like it just works randomly, or whenever it feels like it. I'm sick of seeing error codes pop up when finding players. I can only hope this is just because the game is still in it's early days and will smooth out later.

Random thought, but is anyone else playing with the GamePad using the D-pad? I didn't even notice when I first played, but after a couple races I realized I was using the D-pad and not the analog stick. It feels right to me, and it's all I've been using. I tried using the stick for a while, but I didn't like it.

I also use the d-pad Ive been doing it since snes mario cart witch is why I wasn't a fan of mario kart wii I think.

Mario Kart 8 is on par with Mario Kart 7... which is a bad thing. Mario Kart 7 was mediocre, but hey, at least Mario Kart 8 is more fun than MK7. But still, this game doesn't offer anything new, except for anti-gravity. It's REALLY sad and pathetic that Mario Kart DS has more replay value than MK8 & MK7. Nintendo just doesn't care anymore, do they?

Overall, Mario Kart 8 kind of a rehash, little to no replay value, items are horribly balanced (I got a green shell in 9th place, WTF), the character roster makes me want to vomit, battle mode is atrocious, and the game itself is beyond overrated. Seriously, this isn't 8, 9, or 10/10 material. Sigh. Just another gimped game that will get mindless praise.

i think we are playing a diffrent game

i think we are playing a different game

While I disagree about the game being mediocre, I do feel it's a bit overrated at this point in time. There are several areas where the game dropped the ball severely, and I'd only give it about an 7.8/10 myself.

What a weird request. So if I play MKDS, then play MK8, i'm gonna say 'Oh I really got more value out of replaying the DS version?'
How is that even possible? Less characters, worse graphics, missing features like flight and antigravity, discontinued online, primitive kart choice, and zero chance of DLC. I understand people like games they grew up with, but why try to tear down a game that is clearly an improvement than its predecessors?

What's the point in getting three stars in each cup? It's no where to be seen online!!

A lot of the complaints about this game really baffle me.
It's like I'm playing something completely different.

I'd go into more detail but I'm too busy playing.

As for the people who feel underwhelmed: Keep in mind that this is already number 8! If you have played all previous titles you may feel a little fatigue. Besides, it may get harder and harder for Nintendo to come up with new stages. But the ones they delivered are pretty fun.

As for me, I have fun with it. But I am not SUPER impressed, like I was with Mariokart 64 or Mariokart Wii. For me its a little bit better then Mariokart 7. The music is nice, but not super. And there isn't much wrong with the roster! Sure there are some fillers like the baby's and the metal/gold characters. But for the rest its a good roster with someone for everyone.

I think if you don't like the game, you just need to play it more. The game seems fairly slow at first, but then you learn how to drift more effectively, use mushrooms through shortcuts, etc. Just like every Mario Kart game, except now it has more realistic physics, better graphics, better controls, clearer audio, and better online. You have to get used to it, IMO.

Considering that Nintendo announced the release date fairly far in advance, I think they may have run out of time to implement arenas into the battle mode, and instead decided to cobble something together so that it wouldn't be delayed like Watch Dogs.

I think we'll see some arena-based DLC in the future though.

I use the d-pad by the way. I somehow find that more comfortable then using the analogue stick. The analogue stick isn't that good placed in my opinion.

I have to disagree - the analogue steering makes up for any minor impracticality of position that people may find (although I personally have no problems whatsoever).

This entry to the series is the first time I have seriously thought that I will play it more than MKDS. I love everything about it. The new balancing of items seems much more fair and every course is interesting. I normally dislike at least a few tracks but not here!

I can't wait to get online with it xD (currently working on 3 starring mirror mode)

Has anyone noticed, that if you press the horn multiple times, that the enemies jump in their cars?

Is this good for anything or is it just a funny joke?

How many WiiU's did they sell in the UK last month?

666% increase doesn't really mean much unless we know what it's compared to.

From what I've been told, expect something like thousands to tens of thousands as the increase. Not that I know or live in the UK, but these are the numbers you should probably expect.

So uh, do you need a Wii motion plus remote for this game?
Or can I just use a normal Wii remote to play multiplayer?

Any tips for the 100cc Banana Cup? I'm trying to get three stars, and SNES Donut Plains 3 is driving me insane.

Skip it and go to 150cc as 3 starring that counts for 100cc and 50cc.
