Hi, I'm new here, I'm trying to find out if I can buy a wii u in UK as a gift for someone who lives in Italy. My question is will he be able to play super mario maker or any other game in italian?

Languages are done game by game rather than on the console as a whole. So you just need to check that the particular game has the language you want.
Then you'll obviously need a power adapter cos Italy has a different wall socket from the UK.
