Hi everyone,
I got a wii u mario cart console from friend. In order to extend its usage, I bought a just dance party 2 disc to use on wii U. In addtion, I bought a remote controller since it is asked. The console recognized the disc, but when choosing avarta, the gameboard is not working anymore. Unfortunately, the remote controller also not working to choose avarta, although it has been successfully synchronized. Does anyone have similar problem? Or could anyone figure out the problem? Thank you.
Kind regards,
Fang

@CactusMan Thanks for your reply. I indeed suspect that is the reason. But some thread said it is not a must have. Is the sensor bar necessary for motion games? I stuck at the step of menu control, not progressing into the real game playing part.

You may need to use the Wii U Gamepad and go into settings in order to set it up so that the console knows whether the sensor bar is situated above or below the TV.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

@Silly_G Thank you. Did the setting you recommended. still not working. Actually I am thinking how to check functionality of my sensor. It is original coming with the box, but there is not light showing, so not sure whether it is functioning. Anyone knows whether it should flash?

The sensor bar does not flash. Perhaps it's not working on account of being faulty?

Yeah, the light array in the sensor bar is infrared and not visible to human eyes. But the sensor bar cable isn't the sturdiest thing. Could see it easily having a short that's causing it to not power on.

Sensor bar position in the Wii U dashboard doesn't matter in regards to getting things working. You don't need to select if it's below or above the television for the Wii U to power the sensor bar. It's sending power to the sensor bar plug continuously when the system is powered on. All that setting is for is to fine tune things when using the Wii remote as a pointer, so that the system can better estimate where the tv is in relation to the Wii remote.

Try pointing your Wii remote at your Wii U gamepad. It has an integrated sensor bar just above the LCD screen. That will let you rule out if it's the Wii remote's IR camera that's gone bad or your sensor bar.
