um.. no. in what way would it be? it doesnt sell that well, it doesnt have that many games(it has good games mind you, but not that many of them), the gamepad is nifty, but not quite a revolution. i just dont see how it can be qualified as best console ever. of course, for Nintendo fans, the newest nintendo console is logically the best, but thats simply the opinion of one group

Kind of a meaningless statement. PS4 was the fastest selling console of all time, but it just got its first must-have exclusive last month, its 16th month on the market. Analysts will spend decades trying to figure out why people are actually buying the Xbox One. Nintendo fans certainly aren't alone in jumping all over new hardware for no real reason.
I don't really think BC should count for much. I think it's a matter of judging video game consoles relative to their times. You could say the Wii U has the best hardware of any Nintendo system ever because it's the most powerful, but that completely ignores how the Wii U is underpowered relative to it's time, while the GC was right on par. Similarly, saying the Wii U is better than the Wii because Wii BC is better than GC BC doesn't make much sense, because it's completely relative to the time.
Now, when comparing a BC system to a non-BC system, I think that's a bigger deal.
Far from the best. The gamecube alone is better just for the 3rd party support it did get and the controller with proper triggers. It's not the worst, and it may be underrated, but it is absolutely not the best.

I think it's fair to say that popular things can be great and great things are usually pretty popular. But don't assume that means that they're one and the same because they definitely aren't. I mean if you want me to go further I could point to the Metroid Prime series and its sales compared to pretty much any decently selling game. Or alternatively point to hugely successful, non-bundled games like The Sims or CoD and compare them to games people think of when they make top-10 lists.
Nope, it has a great line up of first party titles and that's it.
The Wii U will be remembered as the decent little console, that promised so much and delivered very little.

I would probably throw it into the top 10, but not the best. The top 3 would probably be the Gamecube, PS2, and Dreamcast (I haven't played 2 of those systems, I only put them their because people generally like them). The Wii U is a great system, don't get me wrong, but it would need more third party, have more advertising, games that could appeal to everybody, a better name, just better and more things in general.

If it had kept the 3rd party support it had early on(especially stuff like Deus Ex or Rayman Legends) then I would say potentially (especially compared to the competition) but SNES, Ps2, even GCN didn't have these huge gaps in memorable releases to such an absurd degree (and yeah some cool indie stuff is expected, but even that wasn't happening that often in the first year and a half of the console),

I think this is a bit rich. This is the first console generation where indies being there at the start to the extent that they are is even a thing. I'd argue that before 2008, which is quite a ways into last generation, indie games weren't even being considered. The 360 was kind to them but even then they didn't really explode until around 2008. If last generation was the same in terms of indies I suspect that the Wii would have come out with more than 512MB of flash. Go back to the Wii's launch and we both know Nintendo was thinking that flash would mostly be used for VC titles and saves.
Line the launches up and the Wii U's collection and rate of indies looks pretty decent. Line the Wii and Wii U launches up and Lost Winds is the first hit for the Wii at a point when the Wii U is getting Child of Light. Just a little bit of perspective. I'd say the Wii U is probably only second to the PS4 in terms of indie support in the history of all consoles.
I think the question 'what is your favorite game' kind of debunks the Wii U being my favorite, or even close to my favorite console of all time. There's no games developed specifically for the Wii U that I would even place in or around my '10 most favorite games' mental list. I mean, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is pretty fantastic, but 4 on the 3DS is basically a straight upgrade across the board so :/
Not shown: The Nintendo Handheld Empire laughing hysterically at this question.
Yeah, couldn't agree more. Who thinks of these questions...
My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."
It's my favourite without a doubt. Convenience of off-TV play, the lack of disc or cart-swapping and the range of the classic and current software library do it for me. There are things I'd like to see there and there are things I liked about my old Playstation, but Wii U is ticking most of the boxes for me.

Wouldn't Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB be a better representation of movies than a music site?
Dunno about RT, but IMDb had some serious ballot-stuffing issues for directors with the loudest, most vocal fanbase. Almost every Christopher Nolan movie is in the top 60 all time chart, and boards entirely unrelated to him or his work have swathes of young males going on about how he's among the greatest directors of all time.
No. The lack of retail games are disappointing...I don't even think they have a hundred retail games for it...and it's coming close to being 3 years old. The best systems, that I still see people buying and buying for are Nintendo NES, Sega Genesis, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo 64 and Sony Playstation 2. I think down the line, it will be Playstation 3 and X-box 360. I don't see the PS4, XONE and Wii U or even the Wii being a system that people would want in their homes 20+ years from now, but I could be wrong. I still come back to my Gamecube quite often, and for some reason, I'll hook up my old TV and plug in the Atari 2600...yup, I'm that old...had the Atari when it came out!

My point is less on whether Nintendo is doing good with indies (they certainly are, if a little behind on supporting the more well known titles while they're still new), and more that Nintendo needed it more than the others for several reasons (especially early 2014), and did not have it at that time. Well ok, maybe tied with Xbox, but being tied with Xbox at anything in 2013 is a sign of failure.

Doesn't that defeat the point of people ranking films if you're just gonna ignore it for you ones that include your preferences?
As much as I do like Blade Runner I wouldn't put it in my top 100 films.
you have a top list of 100 films? I can barely list 10 let alone 100. Sometimes I wish I was a movie buff such as yourself.
