I loved all but the DJ Hero series of games (have them all), which I thought was simply crap.) Without multiplayer and additional instruments, this seems dead to me.

Really? I felt like DJ Hero breathed new life into the franchise and was really well/polished for the first of the series (and 2 felt even better). Band Hero is by far my least favorite.

If they would've released this trailer on April 1st, I wouldn't have believed it was an actual game. It's that bad. Something about seeing actual people cheer on a fake band I didn't create - very unconvincingly, I may add - doesn't sit well at all.
I may just stick with Frets on Fire, since Rock Band 4 isn't coming to Wii U, PS3, or PC.

And that's not to mention that pretty much the only reason they're even coming out with this is because they want more money from the rhythm game market. Old DLC is not compatible, new DLC is subscription-based and designed to suck money from bank accounts, and that's not to mention the worst part: old instruments don't work, so have fun paying $100+ to play it.
Track/artist list so far:
The Black Keys- Gold on the Ceiling
The Blitz Kids
Ed Sheeran
Fall Out Boy- My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark
Gary Clark, Jr.
Green Day
The Killers
The Lumineers
My Chemical Romance
Pierce the Veil
The Rolling Stones
Skrillex
The War on Drugs

So far, if you don't like the Stones or 00's pop-rock, you're screwed. And seriously, SKRILLEX?

I like almost any music that has some guitar in it, bonus points if it's heavy and insta-win if it's symphonic metal.

That track list is awful. I love the Stones, but I'm not buying a game to play the two Stones songs people buying video games in 2015 have heard of.

I mean, I'd be fine (albeit begrudgingly) if they just had casual stuff I can break out at parties, but there's none of that either. Not to mention there's no more singing or drums. Trying to market it as casual while taking out the casual elements? Why?

My god, Crypt of the NecroDancer looks amazing.

Honestly, finding that was kinda the highlight of my day.

I found this today and listened to the whole thing, interrupted only by some vids of 2015 GOTY contender.

Guys, it's not like we know everything about the game. There's nothing saying they can't or won't add more instruments, nor is there any reason to feel like they won't add more songs... like... a lot more. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm still riding the fence on whether or not I like the core mechanic changes. It's just a bit too early to say anything about the content (other than that it looks sparse because we have no idea how much or what exactly they'll add.)

If anything, I will agree that the game is looking far too thin to justify a $100 price tag, but I'm not about to write it off when we know so little. (Though in all fairness, if Rock Band 4 was coming to Wii U, I wouldn't be quite as interested in GH Live. I may prefer GH, but I'd rather go back to the basics which I know I love than try something that could very well end up being a total disappointment.)

There's also always the chance that there can be other instruments, unless I've missed something somewhere that says there isn't. They haven't specified.

So a bit of a bump here, but apparently Best Buy held a demo where you could come up and play Guitar Hero Live at the store. Sounds like the gameplay is surprisingly intuitive, and the addition of open notes and barre notes makes really fills it out for me. I think I'm liking where the gameplay concept is headed, but it seems they maybe be pushing things a bit.

In the demo, you couldn't skip the cutscene before the song and the set list was really tiny. Hopefully, this won't remain the case, because if it does, that could very quickly ruin the game for almost any player.

I don't think the set list of a demo is any indicator of the final game's number of tracks. Tell me I'm wrong, though.

If I were to tell you that you were wrong, I'd be going against my own words, as well. Not only did I leave the "if it stays this way" bit in, but I recall saying that we definitely don't know all the songs in the game, thus far.

Now, personally, I want a good 50+ songs to play with AT THE VERY LEAST, with the promise of more to come, though the pay model is going to be another major issue, since knowing Activision, it won't be a very friendly one. And I'm not going to count repeats from past GH games, since that's a total cop out. I've played Paranoid over three hundred times, Acti. I'm not interested in playing it again!

Anyways, my point was that a puny setlist will kill all hype I have for this game, so this had better /not/ be a sign of things to come.

As for my other point, 45-second iteration periods are suicide for any Rhythm Game. If the player can't start over and be back in it in just a few seconds, you're gonna lose their interest fast. This is less a testament to short attention spans and more a point of frustration. If I F* up a song and have to wait a whole minute to start again, I'm gonna be really low on patience by the time I complete it, and will most likely quit afterwards. This isn't just me, though I'd be mistaken for saying this applies to everyone, too.

I'm pretty sure it's not going to happen until Guitar Hero Live 2: Electronic Music Boogaloo. And when it does happen, expect to have to buy a new $100 drum set because, conveniently for Activision, the old one won't work with their new "more intuitive" control system.

I feel the need to point out that with the generation shift, most systems lose this ability. Mad Katz and Harmonix are going to be working hard to get that functionality back, and only because they know it's life or death for their game. Activision doesn't care. They assume people would buy the new guitar, anyways. Besides, I'd be lying if I were to say that my old drum kit works with the PREVIOUS games, let alone the new ones. Seriously, have you ever used that thing? You're basically breaking it just by playing.

Not a horribly list of songs, but four of these were in previous Guitar Hero games, already, and I'm only happy to see one of them return. One was in Rock Band 2, and I'm sure a number of these were already DLC in one game or the other. I supposed with the new control scheme, there's a fair excuse, but there were very few of these where I was like "yeah! Can't wait to play that!"

ive been playing the game for a few days. its amazing so far. i only got one little thing.
sometimes i let my gamepad run out of power and dont charge it because i know im not gonna use it next time i play on my wiiu.
but when im playing guitar hero live i cannot go to the wiiu menu with my pro controller to shut down the game.
and there also isnt any button in the guitar to go to the menu so i need my gamepad to shut down the game.
anyone of you got a solution for this or do i really need my gamepad for this?

Not interested. I haven't cared for Guitar Hero since 3. I'd rather play a real guitar... I actually have one hooked up to my AV amp, and when Xbox One gets Windows 10 support, I'll see if I can get a sheet music app so I can read it off of the TV. That's what my plans are, instead of playing Guitar Hero.

EDIT: I'm using a Rocksmith guitar that I got at a garage sale, BTW.
