The ONE thing I hate about gaming is when a new game or console comes out, it seems like everyone (Most) Gamers out there. Have to stop playing the old games or console..specifically Online...especially if its a game called "Mario Kart 7" and play the new one. I can imagine when the new Pokemon comes out everyone is going to stop playing Pokemon X' & Y' and go straight to the new one...and say "Since the new game is coming out, I'm going to stop everything and play the new game.
(& when some people like me that actually are able to have money to buy the game you want know if its going to be good online, everyone starts to say...."I'm not going to play it...etc,)
I'm mean am I the only one who has a problem with this?
The reason why I'm even making this unnecessary forum is because I made a forum yesterday asking if Mario Kart 7 is an active community and since the game is cheap for me, now is my chance to get it... Why do Gamers do this? (Some)
MK7 still sells enough to place within Japan's top 20, the week before MK8 is released. Since 7 is portable and 8 is not, I don't see why people would stop playing online because the new one arrived, beyond the initial allure of the new stuff.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
I don't have a problem with people getting the newest releases, but when they turn around after a day or two and say "what's next?" it gets irritating.
Edit: And I mean this as independent of hype for events like E3 or even an announced Nintendo Direct.
I am not bothered about that I am bothered about paying full price for something and being bored with it in a day or two. (Or finishing it). Ideally at that point I want to be still getting Game Over every 5 mins.
I dont think that there will be not enough players, as people will always play old games. ex/ people still played mkds after mk7. cod bo2 even after cod ghosts was released. pokemon bw2 evven after xy came out. People will always play old games. I can play cod bo2 wiiu (with 700 people on) and find matches easily.
Well ask yourself, why would you want to play the old game when there is a new one with better features?
If every release is just the same game with more tweaks and features, why buy every installment?
Of course, that only applies to certain series, mostly sports-related or competitive games. Otherwise there are a gajillion reasons to stick to older games and/or play every installment in a series.
People now adays have short attention spans and want the newest and latest things that's all. They all want to be cool and playing the old stuff isn't cool anymore.
As for me I do get a little irritated at this especially cause I can't always get the latest and newest games right as they release, that's why when I pick up a game like Mario Kart 7 the online portion of the game doesn't hold much value to me.
Games like Animal Crossing for example that require online trading and such to progress in the game I tend to avoid cause by the time I get the game people have already moved on to the next big thing and the community is small or not at the same level as me.
If that bugs you then I suggest maybe not putting too much stock in the online portion of the game and just enjoy the single player experience.
However as I stated in your thread about MK7 I dont think that community is going anywhere. Yeah it will shrink a bit due to MK8 but not everyone owns a Wii U, owns MK8, and MK is now the only portable MK games.

I don't mind buying/playing ever installment in a series when the series isn't a yearly release. When time is put into a game (Like Mario Kart 8, SM3DW, SSB4) I don't mind at all. When a series is being released yearly (like CoD, Assassin's Creed, Madden) there normally isn't enough new to draw me in. If we are talking Mario Kart 8 specifically then I have no problem with it. Each release brings 16 new tracks featuring new ways to race and new characters to race as. The customization from Mario Kart 7 is expanded on and anti-grav changes the way a race plays out. There is enough new in Mario Kart 8 that it makes Mario Kart 7 feel boring by comparison. I liked Mario Kart 7 but got bored pretty fast. Mario Kart 8 is fantastic, no idea how long I will play it but I want to unlock all the parts (something I didn't do in 7)
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
