For the games that will be available: Probaly be around the same price as ebay (15/20 euro around here, gotta pay shipping for titles)
Buying the gamecube disc = having to have a gamecube/wii plugged into the tv as well as the wii u...having a gamecube controller (likely wired) and a memory card. Buying as a download for Wii U = instant download. May have graphical updates. (the new system is HD) Compatibility with a newer controller...possibly even streaming to the wii u controller's screen. no need for discs/memory cards.
I'd go for the download option wherever possible........
Except for Nintendo games and the occasional RPG, most Gamecube games go for pennies a pop. It's pretty much guaranteed that the download version will be overpriced.

You're also paying for the convenience of not having a disc and having the game on a more current system. Eventually GC and Wii will die out

Except that I am sure because of the Wii alot of people have GC controllers and Memory cards. ANd anyways its not hard to get any of those anyway. Its not like having to go on Ebay for a NES controller or something like that.
As for graphical updates I doubt it due to the fact that they just emulate the games. They didnt update graphics on any of the NES games or SNES games except what they had to for legal reasons.

If technology has taught me anything, it's that they don't make stuff like they used to. Your newer stuff are probably more likely to die than your older stuff.
Nintendo reps leak crap like this all the time, and it ends up not pannIng out. I wouldn't be surprised to see GCN games on VC, but the WiiU would need to have some sort of actual storage space - which I'm not holding my breath for.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery

My Gamecube's laser died faster than my Wii's did

Oi, but lets see how fast your Wii U dies.

So I take it, Mickeymac, that you will not be lining up on launch day to get the first Wii U version?
That's where external HDD come in, as WiiU will be able to use them. You can buy 1TB pretty cheap these days. I remember Target had one from WD for $70. And people are paying $100-120 for 250GB of memory for their 360 hard drives. Glad Nintendo didn't opt in to make their own drives.
I'm actually gonna play catchup this generation and get a cheap PS3 for christmas. I'm a split Nintendo/Sony gamer, but when the Wii came out, I had to decide between the two. Now I can happily experience the games I missed out on. I can wait on getting the Wii U, I'm not THAT hyped about it
Why do astronauts backtrack? They forgot the Space Jump Boots.
I'm skipping this entire console generation, actually.
Care to elaborate why? Would like to hear it.
I don't really have a reason. I just want to take a break so I can play catch up on this current generation. There are still over 200 games I need to own from this gen. I was just planning on getting Ninty's console, get the 5 games I'll actually care about and be done with it, but now I'm not so sure it'll be worth it for that. Unless a miracle happens, like a new Darkstalkers or a full 3D pokemon game happens, I think I can safely skip this up and coming gen with few consequences. It's just a gut feeling, though. I'll still be getting the Vita and the 3DS (once it goes down in price), though. I only buy Niche Japanese games day one anymore, and those are usually found on portables these days, since the Japanese seem to care more about portables than consoles now.
Plus, I'm just not as much of a gamer as I used to be. I only play games once a week, if that, except on the rare occasion that I find a game that really hooks me. So basically, once I'm done collecting, I could probably very easily subsist off of those games for many years to come.
@Mickeymac That actually sounds like a good idea with all the catch-up I need to do from this current gen as well as last gen both on handhelds and home consoles but when there is already a new smash bros. and a third No more heroes announced for the wii U, I doubt I will do that but as not many of the confirmed wii U games excite me, I wouldn't be surprised if I don't get the wii U as close to launch as possible which is what I did for the DS, wii, DSi and 3DS.
200 huh? You like a lot of games I have never heard about though. I am surprised that you play games so infrequently.
It's more of a recent (as in within the last 6 months) occurance actually. I used to play them every day. I don't see myself going back to that schedual anytime soon, though.
And just a note for figures:
58 are on the PSP 40 on the DS 20 on the PS3 24 are on the Wii 90+ are on the Xbox 360 the rest are on the various download services, which I have yet to total up, but I think the figures should over 100.
