I wouldn’t base my interest of Bayonetta 2 on how much / or how little you liked the W101. While all Platinum games have some similarities (huge boss battles, tons of tude, some similar control mechanics), the W101 is arguably their most unique, left field title so far, mostly so in how you actually played it.
Norik’s description of Ninja Gaiden on steroids is pretty much spot on.
If (and that's a big if) the game requires the same things from the player (keen eye, fast reflexes, methodological and patient approach), I might not find the game fun to play, even if it looked gorgeous.
...It's an action game. They requires those things. If you don't like action games, don't play Bayonetta. Because it's an action game.
Right now, I'm actually doubting my interest in Bayonetta 2 because of The Wonderful 101. If (and that's a big if) the game requires the same things from the player (keen eye, fast reflexes, methodological and patient approach), I might not find the game fun to play, even if it looked gorgeous.
The size of the "if" is emphasized by me never having played Bayonetta 1 or Metal Gear Revengeance or knowing how they are supposed to be played.
There are some similarities between the games. They likely use the same game engine, have the same loading method, have similar score multiplyer systems, a continual flow of enemies/bosses and a gauge that has to be filled in order to perform special attacks.
Where they differ is in the core gameplay. Bayonetta has far more focused combat, like dodging an attack at the right moment can reward you with witch time (a slow motion mode where you kick donkey); whereas in TW101 it's more about pulling out the unite forms at the right time. The Ninja Gaiden on steroids comparison is fairly good, that kind of gameplay mixed with TW101 levels of craziness kind of equals Bayonetta.
I loved the first game and Bayonetta 2 is my most wanted title of 2014,; but you should probably check out some gameplay videos of the original Bayonetta on Youtube for a better idea of how it plays.
At E3 there was a easier mode with Bayonetta 2 where you used the GamePad for everything. For me it made it way more accessible and fun since I haven't played the first. If you are worried about it being too much like W101 I would recommend checking out the GamePad control mode... If you can find a video of it.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

My favorite quote from that diary "It will feel like you're fighting the final boss right from the beginning." That just makes me imagine how epic the final boss will be.. o_o

I'm pretty excited for this game, it's one of my top 2014 games! In fact, I touch on that on my talk show pretty soon, lol... I hope this game sells better than the first one, that would be a good balance to how W101 sold so poorly...
It can do better if Nintendo gives it a real push. One of the reasons why Wonderful 101 failed was lack of a big push from Nintendo, since they decided to let the game rot in favor of waiting on the Fall for the marketing money.
Its crazy that in hindsight Nintendo should have partnered with programs similar to the W101 like Power Rangers on Nick (both are Toku) and the super hero show on CN and Disney XD.
WAT!
