Want to know the reason why you need to buy more than just one Mario? Because each figurine only holds the save data from one game. So if you use it with SSB and then use it in MK8 you'll lose the SSB save.
Take a look in the other amiibo thread for the source
Everything can change, but I'm never changing who I am

nope......not how it works. it doesn't collect save data for mario kart. it will add something like dlc. also link your supposed truth. asking others to dig for it looks bad.

Dude its an example, and yes that's how it works. Amiibo works both ways it can add stuff and save data, and was it so hard to scroll down to the original amiibo thread. Dear Lord it was the latest post so you couldn't have missed it but here just for you.
Sorry to bump this thread, but I've found out that each amiibo will only retain one save file from any game. This means that if I were to use Yoshi on Super Smash Bros. and then Yoshi's Wooly World, I'd lose data for the former. If you want to have multiple saves, you have to go out and buy more of the same figurine.
Have Amiibo unlock the character or character costume in Nintendo Land. Add online competition to the game as well as additional amiibo unlock DLC in the game. Amiibo sales then show up in software sales charts. Nintendo profits.

This is actually kind of a pretty cool idea. If the Amiibo's unlock new features in older games I may be interested.

I think it would require more work than it is worth
Like all Nintendo's other cross platform stuff, this is going to succeed on 3DS as long as they bundle the Amiibo accessory with a hard hitting game
I think if they end up making something like Super Mario 3D Land 2, it would be perfect for Amiibo, but that's a dream situation and not a prediction.
Not bundling the Amiibo connector for 3DS will most likely be their deathnail. Even bundling it with
As for Wii U, they need to show a game that needs Amiibo, and show off demos at Walmart. You know, the Skylanders strategy.
How will one Amiibo work on another: It won't. However it will recognize your total amount of Amiibos and every Amiibo you scan will be counted and reward you in multiple games. Example: You grab 2 figures from Smash, 5 Figures from Mario Kart, and 3 from Wooly World. Captain Toad's game however will recognize that you have 10 general Amiibos and will reward you for them.
What will Mario Kart 8 do with it? Probably Kart and character DLC. So each Amiibo will contain 1 character, 1 Kart, 1 Wheel and 1 Glider.
Example: Dry Bowser Amiibo, has a figure of Dry Bowser, a skeleton Motorcycle, some flame wheels and a Dry Bowser glider.
What will Yoshi's Wooly World do with it? Only more levels come up to mind. But there might also be Yoshi skins
What will Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker do with it? I'm more confident saying more levels here with this one.
What will Mario Party 10 do with Amiibo? I'm going to say...minigames? I don't mean the ones that are done in 30 seconds, I mean the ones you would likely see in Wii Party...only in Mario Party...
How much will they cost? They'll vary. $8 being the lowest (probably for Mario Party) $15 will be the highest (Smash Bros.)

Thanks for the thorough prediction! You're explanation of how the different Amiibos may work on different games makes a lot of sense. I think a lot of people are assuming they are going to be this insane cross-functional device, but I tend to think, like you said, it will be much more simple and contained.
I would like them to make a game centered around them. Maybe like an open world action adventure type. Like the plot would be Nintendo"s greatest villains teaming up, Something among the lines of that. like You can explore the Mushroom Kingdom, Hyrule, One of the Pokemon regions etc. I'm already planning on buying alot of Amiibo(Along with Skylanders and Disney Infinity) I think that alot of people would enjoy that.
I think they definitely do need some sort of game to justify their existence. The functionality in other games is cool but doen't make sense to me as their only feature.
That being said we have not heard anything about a game and these things are coming out fairly soon.

11 of them are in the top 20. Wii Fit Trainer is at #21. There are more pre-orders for Link, Samus, Mario, Pikachu, Marth, Fox, Yoshi, and Peach than there are for either current gen version of Destiny. Every single one of them has more pre-orders than the game itself, indicating that these are selling to people who aren't even buying the game they were designed for, instead buying them just as pieces of Nintendo merchandise.
Hopefully Nintendo can sustain this level of interest through the holiday and through the next year.

I wonder if these toy sales might also reveal a general level of interest in certain characters and franchises as well. If Samus continues to be #2 or #1 in sales over the next year, it's not a stretch to think a new Metroid title would do well.
