Topic: Amiibo Predictions

Seems pretty obvious that Amiibo is not Nintendo at its most inventive but instead at its most desperate for money / attention (seeing as how they are jumping on a bandwagon a couple years late with what seems to be a pretty vague plan for what the toys do.) So what do we think? Will these things sell Wii U's? Is a Wii Fit Trainer statue with a limited use flash drive inside a holiday MUST HAVE or a sign of Nintendo running out of ideas...

Wait and see, then...

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

In short they'll sell but who knows if they'll actually move Wii U consoles they need to elaborate on there functionality in other games.

people may buy them to resell them later on or just to collect and never use them

Do you like videogames? If so, you must know

They are more collectors items than actually being used in the games. It isn't really meant to move consoles just games. Anyways they will sell.

If they're people who will buy and collect nintendo brand merchandise even when they can't connect to a game, it's a safe bet they will get this and more.

A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

Yeah these things are absolutely not moving systems. But I think the amiibos themselves will sell really well because of collectors and kids that just think they look cool. I would certainly buy some amiibos that were coming out for a Nintendo game I don't care for if the figures themselves are beautiful, just not the game.

MrV4ltor

I don't see it selling any systems, just because the figures aren't getting their own game, like Disney Infinity and Skylanders. I do however think that it is a smart idea to have these figurines. They aren't that expensive to make and lots of Nintendo gamers will buy them just to put them on their shelves. They will also give Nintendo more shelf space and probably higher the brand awareness.

They are way to limited to sell atm. There needs to be a game that is centered around the concept.

I see them as collectables, collectables that just happen to be able to interact with your games.

Things could get interesting come Christmas. It just occurred to me that these things might sell out around the Holidays, and anytime something is in demand and people can't find it the press usually goes nuts. By association, that might put the Wii U in the news, thus creating interest and demand for our favorite clunky little underdog. Everyone keeps predicting that "X" game will move systems, but ya never know it might just be toys.

How are they to limited? They work with SSB, MK8 and CT:TT, that we know off. I'm sure that they'll flesh it out

I am really looking forward to these things

I don't think we know enough to really give a fair judgment for these figures

I think they will sell because they're Nintendo figurines. People will go nuts over them. I just hope they make a new game made especially for Amiibo because right now the games that have hinted Amiibo functionality seem like they're just gonna shoehorn the figures into the games. If Nintendo makes a game just for they'll really make those figurines shine. Also I hope they don't do multiple versions of the same characters since they already have smash mario.

I think we have a decent amount of knowledge but not enough to jump to conclusions, that said I want several of the starting and will probably end up getting a few dozen or even all of them depending on the price.

The functionality in Smash is ropey at best. They'll live or die by what they do in Mario Kart, Yoshi and Cpt Toad. Give us a good bit on Uploadable content (ULC as opposed to DLC) and we may have a winner on our hands.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

These figurines will most likely be a huge bust. Correct me if I am wrong, but they are just basically flash drives, right? There is no game that utilizes them in the same way as Skylanders or Dinsey Infinity, where the figures unlock said character as a playable character.

Who wants these thngs? I realize there is a vocal minority of people on here who collect dolls, but I think they are really overestimating the general publics interest in these things.
