@ogo79 Watched a Pat's podcast video where Ian was about to explode over some crappy retro console that looks like a mini silver Genesis. Though he listed NL among many other sites when he was like "stop praising these things" especially when apparently this one worked barely if at all by many reports (apparently those who got to work had to spend several hours finding software for it).
The worst I've seen him get.

I just bought MGS: TTS on gamecube if that counts. Now I'm looking for that elusive FE:PoR

So this more of a possible future retro purchase...

I have several NES games, but my NES doesn't work... I'm considering buying one of these things to play them on my SNES instead.

Has anyone used one of these? Are they good?

Yeah, i saw that too (or listened to it rather; i listen to the podcast as a whole but skip the YT clip uploads), made me laugh. And he's not really wrong either, since it seems like pretty much every one of those Kickstarter console projects turn out to be crap.

You guys should definitely watch John Hancock's video on that one they were discussing (i actually saw John's video before listening to them discuss it on the CU podcast), it's pretty funny. Especially since John seems like one of the nicest guys in the world, and even he could barely contain his anger and frustration over what a piece of junk the system is.

@KingMike I stopped watching that podcast after he was whining about how it took him 3 months to get in a copy of Contra. Meanwhile, my local game stores only got about 1-2 copies in the past few years (one of which I bought)

My suggestion get a Retrohub AVS to play NES games, you won't regret it.

I've considered a clone system, but my main problem is the lack of space. My room has very little... Room... And the gaming corner is getting crowded.

I'm afraid buying yet another console will only make things worse.

Also, seeing how I use a crt tv, I don't really have a need for expensive hd clones... My NES mini gets very little use already.

This x1000. The AVS is perfection.

So not quite sure what this is, I believe it's a Famicom or Super Famicom Clone System or Chinese knock off, but forn $10 from my local Goodwill, I figured what the heck. It doesn't have the cords so I am not even sure if it works but it interested me. It takes AV cables which I have a ton of and the power looks like it takes and ac adapter but I am not sure what voltage or what

I am hoping that someone around here might know what it is. Any ideas @the_shpydar

Yep, definitely a Famiclone (the cartridge slot is a dead giveaway), though can't say i'm familiar with this variety. As far as power supply, assuming it has a traditional-type port, it should probably take any sort of standard power supply (i.e., a standard NES AC adapter will likely work). Of course, you'll need a Famicom cart to test it; hopefully it's not one of those clone system that only reads a single multicart that it often comes packaged with. It is possible that if you power it up, it might have some built-in games; there are many Famiclones that work like that too.

EDIT: I did find this page, but not too much helpful info - http://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=11267.0 Interesting box art though, particularly as someone from NYC ...

@the_shpydar Yeah I saw that article as well after I posted here. It looks like it can play normal cartridges as in that link there is a Mega Man cartridge in it. I might take it to my retro game guy tomorrow and see if he knows anything.

Went to my local game store today, and they had a complete copy of Suikoden II for $150 and a disc only copy of Shining Force 3 for $175. I was slightly tempted to buy Suikoden 2, but A: My parents would kill me, B: I don't play PS1 games that often, and C: I can (probably) just use an English patch for my copy of Suikoden 1+2 on PSP.

Works for me! Just make sure they're all heavily secured in watertight tupperwares. Preferably with a big bow on each , and maybe with some BBQ spareribs packed inside too.
