Topic: Which NES Games can save

Posts 1 to 20 of 30

I am thinking about taking out my old NES but don't know which games can be saved. I know the zelda's, Final Fantasy, Kirby's Adventure, and the dragon warriors can be saved. Are there other games on the NES that can be saved. I want to know this because I hate typing in passwords and rememberring them

Not many, though if the problem is just remembering passwords, you could find a password for any level of any NES game on GameFAQs, probably. I think they're annoying, too though. Praise be to the VC for fixing this.

Come on, friends,
To the bear arcades again.

You forgot the StarTropics games.

Give us a list of the games you have, and we'll help you out the best we can.

Remember, castlehominid, if you play it on the Virtual Console, it will automatically save your status when you quit. The next time you pick up the game you'll be right where you left off, whether the game itself can save or not. So you don't have to worry about beating ANY of the original NES games in one sitting.

I played super mario 3 on wii and quit after beating the first level. It did't save. Neither does super mario 1, or the lost levels. In bases loaded I need a password and in adventure island I beat a couple of levels and it didn't save.

Are you exiting to the Wii Menu, or just powering down when you're done playing?

If you press the "home" button on your WiiMote and go back to the Wii menu, the next time you play the game you'll start off right where you were.

If this doesn't happen, there's a problem with your Wii.

This is kind of stretching it, but I believe Mach Rider for the NES has battery back-up for saving ‘user created tracks’ data.

I listed my games at my other forum. The best NES games. I know which games that I have that can save but I want to know others.

I was wondering about this "save" feature as well. It is for this reason, I have been reluctant to play VC games older than the N64.
(1) Which VC systems support this feature?
(2) Is exiting to the Wii Menu like closing a DS? If I go back to play a game like SMB2 and get a GAME OVER, will I re-spawn at my "save" point, or will I have to start from level 1?

Thanks for your responses, this issue has been troubling me for quite some time.

(1) All NES, SNES, and Master System games support the suspend save. I'm almost certain the TG16 games support it but possibly not the Turbo CD games. The N64 requires in-game saving and I've seen a mix of both with Sega Genesis (although it's almost always supported). Don't think you can do it with NeoGeo games at all, or it's rare.

(2) Yes, it is like putting your DS into sleep mode. If you were to theoretically die after booting up the game though, you couldn't resume the old save point. It's like freezing the game in a time chamber. Be careful not to shut off the power when you're done playing though, go to the Wii Menu to keep the data.

1) All except the N64 and Neo Geo.

2) Yes.

Wow, I thought Nintendo was better than that.

PS. Does Super Mario All-Stars for Wii/Snes have proper save features?
