Final Fantasy. It's not that the first games in the series I got were bad, but I started with Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates and Revenant Wings, thinking that all FF games were turn-based RPGs. I was quite disappointed to find that the games I got were nothing like I was expecting, but once I got past that, I really enjoyed both games. Hate to sound like a fanboy, but Square Enix really do make some impressive games for the DS.
Ratchet and Clank - the first game i actually got in this series was Secret Agent Clank which sucks ROBALLZ! so im kinda discouraged to buy the others Super Smash Bros. - well, this is a bit of a weird reason for wishing i had a better introduction to the series, but here goes. when i first played melee at my friends house, i was hooked. i spent several days just thinking about the game in school, but i couldnt get it because i didnt have a gamecube. i would wait for like 3 months until my birthday until i could finally get the game, and i played it like CRAZZZY! but i wish i actually HAD the game before playing it so i wouldnt have to wait forever

Zelda, the first one is not the best one to start with. But then I played A Link to the Past when I found a cheap GBA copy of it and I was hooked. Same as Starfox. Later on I came to appreciate the first Zelda as well, but it's not the best one to start with.
I think my console gaming got off to a bad start in general. It was basicly just Playstation/Playstation 2 Games based of TV shows and such. Thank god I had a GameBoy Colour with Pokemon and Zelda at the time, and thank god I got a GameCube with SSBM for Christmas before it was too late. Santa, I am forever in your debt.
I've been neglecting my PS2 for years now, but now that I'm 15, I may be able to buy a copy of Metal Gear Solid...
