Topic: Retro-bit official Sega controllers

I thought I'd post to say my officially licensed retro-bit Sega controllers have arrived today.

Initial impressions:

So far I've only tried the two (blue and black) usb mega drive ones and they work great. I havent tried them on Switch though so I will update this when I have.

Quality control/manufacturers packing seems a bit off, they have a few fingerprints and unfortunately the black mega drive pad has a scratch on the glossy area.

I also have the grey Sega Saturn with original port one which I'm going to try out later when I dig out my Saturn. This will be good to compare because I actually have an original Saturn pad.

At this rate, I'm thinking of buying another Sega Saturn original port (long cable length) and a couple USB ones (even though I've heard Saturn emulation is wonky).

I will certainly be buying the two original port mega drive pads when they come out as I only have an unofficial one for my mega drive.

And I look forward to the two classic 3 button controllers that look like usb that come with the mega drive mini later this year!

See ya!

Saturn update: new controller works great but sadly the disc drive on the Saturn has decided to give up on me played one game of virtua fighter 2 and it won't read any more discs, also the original controller looks a little beat up...sad sad

@JoakimZ thank you for your condolences, I've wiggled the laser a bit and managed to get a game of sega rally out of it but I'll take it apart in a few weeks and give it a good clean and see what needs doing to it!

See ya!

@JoakimZ do you recommend any (English) games for it by any chance? I've just got the bog standard games, virtua fighter 2, Daytona, sega rally, fighting vipers, die hard trilogy, a couple of football games and groans ....virtual hydlide

See ya!

@gimmi_c I have a japanese Saturn so most of the games I have are japanese imports. It feels like most of the great Saturn games was only released in Japan, sadly.

That being said, there were still many good games released in english.
If you like old school first person shooters, Exhumed is a real hidden gem.
I don’t think the early 3D fighting games has aged well, but there are a lot of fantastic 2D fighting games on the Saturn. Most of them were only released in Japan, but a few were also released in english, like Darkstalkers,
X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, King of Fighters ’95 and Street Fighter Alpha 2.

@JoakimZ ah that's a shame, I'll have to do some more research on Japanese games then! I can't read Japanese unfortunately.

I have the darkstalkers collection on PS3 which I really like and street fighter collection on switch though I haven't got round to alpha 2 yet. Im interested in KoF but I've got so many games to play at the moment, especially fighting games, I expect that any exploration of the KoF franchise will be far in the future!

It's a shame marvel and capcom don't collect all their fighting games up to mvc2 together for switch, it would be a day one buy for me!

Switch update: they don't work on switch!

See ya!

But they do work on PS3!

See ya!
