If you want to enjoy the games as they were meant to be displayed, then just get an old crt TV.

You won't be able to play the games properly on a normal modern TV without modding the system, buying adapters, or emulating them on something that supports the format.

N64 is old and was made with low resolution square TVs in mind, so it looks blown up and fuzzy playing it on a high resolution rectangular TV.

The best way to play is probably to track down an old CRT TV, they are not difficult to find and people are pretty much giving them away these days. There are ways to make it look better on a modern TV, but they're very expensive and/or require complicated modifications to your system.

A crt TV is also great to have for other retro systems, and even old video formats.

Depending on the shape of the TV, you can also use it as a surface and put stuff on it. So it isn't all that much of a waste of space.
