Topic: Music side program for game boy game?!?

So last night I can't sleep and I dig out my old gameboy, and start to play Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3. And it brings me back to years ago, where I can remember playing a similar nintendo game (pretty sure it was a mario game but not positive) where a kind of side-play type program let you compose small pieces. No I'm not thinking of anything like Mario Paint, it was definitely just a smaller portion of a game where the pieces you composed were tiny, like ringtone length.

Now I'm thinking back to like nearly ten years ago. And I am absolutely sure I'm not imagining this (I asked someone and he thinks I'm crazy) and I know it was a handheld game, so it had to be for gameboy or gameboy color according to my own personal timeline and going on what I owned. I was pretty sure it was a Mario Bros game but it could've been something else I suppose. But does this sound familiar at all? I've tried looking it up and found nothing but I know I'm not imagining it. Anyone??

I've had a little search around and I can't find anything. I wish I could help but I have no idea.
I just wanted to reply so you didn't feel like the thread was being ignored.

Aw well thanks. I know what I'm looking for but the memory's so obscure that at this point I'm literally just going through lists of all the games made that could be possibilities.

Aha! FYI it's Super Mario Bros Deluxe for Game Boy Color. There's a little composition program you can make use of at the end.

The Gameboy Camera software also features a music sequencer

While im here i might as well ask, i seem to remember some sort of mario game where you play multiplayer and try to throw eachother into some sort of dustbin while trying to collect stuff? I think it was a gameboy game but im not 100% sure.

Well it's not really a program.. it's actually just a small part of the game that lets you compose the opening music sequence when the game powers on. So you can basically compose like the ten second opening after you beat the game.

That's the original Mario Bros.
