I liked Other M, and now that I got that a out of the way...

Man, I haven't even played Super Mertoid yet aside from watching my friend play it here and there during it's SNES release. Incoming Mega Rocks! Ducks under cover!
Instead, I'll be starting out with the original Metroid(Rented back in the NES glory days but i couldn't get into it, what can I say i was only 5 and to me it was just way too confusing based on where to go) on the NES. Either on my NES, or the Wii's VC. And I'm not sure I'll ever get around to playing 2: Echoes....Then again, I definitly would with Wii Pointer controls in the Trilogy version.
As for Other: M ya.....I'll save the weakest for last. And should I also play Metroid II(Ahem 3DS's VC) before i jump into Super?
You can jump into Super Metroid whenever you are ready to pump up your Reebok Pumps and turn them into Space Jump Boots. In fact you should drop everything you are doing now and play it. Well, actually.... scratch that, I would recommend a playthrough of Metroid NES before Super since you go back to the new and improved fortified Zebes and it is neato to see some of the old areas.
The Prime Trilogy is probably the best deal I have got for the Wii. 50 bucks for all three games (Slightly updated, with Wii controls) with a few extras. Other M is pretty good too...not quite the Primes for me though. Here's hoping for a new Metroid at this year's E3.

I just want a new Metroid game, period. Other M was good, but nothing spectacular. Still, I don't think it was horrible to the point that Nintendo would consider putting the series on the backburner. After all, the horrible Twilight Princess didn't stop the Zelda series.
Yup, as a diehard Metroid fan, I'm very disappointed in Nintendo for letting the series' 25th Anniversary go by without uttering so much as a peep. Of course, I know that the reason for that is because Other M received a huge backlash from "fans" who assumed they knew Samus' character better than one of her co-creators, in other words "RAWR! I WANT MASTER CHIEF IN A POWER SUIT!" fans. And I'm equally sure that by the time the next game rolls around (whenever that is), Nintendo will have probably retconned her character to the Prime trilogy version...
It's funny that Metroid Fusion always seems to get brought up in discussions about Other M, when it's "guilty" of the exact same characterization as Other M, only without a voice and in 2D. Anyone who has played through this series (and I mean more than just the Prime trilogy) and assumed that Samus was a stoic, bad*** loner clearly wasn't paying attention. Don't fret, though, because I'm sure that the next game in the series will go back to playing it safe, because any time Nintendo tries to branch out, the fans bite them in the *** (Super Mario Sunshine)...
As for a way to celebrate the series' 25th? Hm, I wouldn't mind some updated remakes, and if they were slated for the Wii U, I wouldn't mind waiting until it released. Another thing that would be great/more realistic would be for Metroid to get its own three-poster series on Club Nintendo, like Mario and Zelda have. It's a shame that Metroid's only presence in the CN rewards is a measly screensaver. I accept the fact that Metroid will never be on par with Mario and Zelda as far as widespread appeal is concerned, but that doesn't mean you can leave fans of the series in the dust, Nintendo...

i enjoyed fusion, it's my third favourite after super metroid in first place, and prime. but yes, definitely. at least show some respect to the series, rather than ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist.
well if we dont get a new metroid game before the new ssb or a trailer, maybe the new ssb will give us a hint, like in brawl we got pit,a few years after we got a new kid icarus with moves that are identical to uprising

You're just mad it has done so well sales wise and review wise. You can't even begin it to compare it to Other M. lol trolls

Yeah um, I redirect you to the E3 announcement of Twilight Princess
I would love to see a new, HD Metroid game. This is one series I would really like to see go the realistic route. To the point where the monsters (including the Metroids themselves) are actually somewhat scary. (preferably Prime style too, maybe with a little bit more story)

I think Retro should just take full control of the Metroid series for now, its obvious the other Nintendo teams in Japan probably won't be making a Metroid game for a while.
well, if not retro studios, i wouldn't mind a company like Gearbox working on metroid for the Wii U. they are the ones who are going to bring aliens: colonial marines for the console. or intelligent systems, who made fire emblem, advance wars and super metroid.
