Hey everyone, I just wanted everyone to know that I picked up a copy of Classic NES Series: Metroid for GBA and I like it. Sure everyone says it hasn't aged well, but I'm enjoying it. I will be picking up Prime in a few days and am exited for Metroid II on 3DS VC and Metroid Fusion as part of the Ambassador Program.

On a side note, I used a code to get to Mother Brain and she is hard!

Currently Playing:
Xbox 360: Arkham City, MW3, Gears 3, UMV3, Battlefield 3
PS3: inFAMOUS 2, LBP 2. Rachet & Clank: All 4 One, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3
Xperia Play: Crash Bandicoot
iOS: Sonic CD, Infinity Blade, Arkham City Lockdown, Mega Man X, Chrono Trigger

I absolutely love the original Metroid.
If you get stuck / need any tips, I can help.
And yeah, the little rings the keep flying at you when you fight Mother Brain are very annoying.

My first Metroid game was Metroid Prime, and it's still one of my favorite gamecube games of all time. I have the original Metroid and didn't like it that much in all honesty, but Super Metroid was MUUUUUCH better in every respect:)
In short, I enjoyed the Prime series the most but there are a lot of good Metroid games (be sure to check out Fusion and Zero Mission on GBA)

Welcome brethren!

Glad your liking the original Metroid, lol. But to be honest that's probably the single most weakest entry in the entire series. Wait until you experience ALL the Prime games, and the handheld entries. The series will blow you away. xD

I used to be terrible at the original Metroid.
I'd literally die after the first 10 minutes and quit out of frustration.
The difficulty was just too much.
It wasn't until Metroid 2 on Gameboy that I really became addicted.
It was much easier to get into. You didn't have to start with a tiny fraction of life either.

Anyway welcome to the wonderful world of Metroid!

I love Metroid games. I have four metroid games on Wii if you count the three triloy titles seprate. If you haven't played Metroid Other M, play it, it has some of the best graphics seen on the Wii, it also plays very well.

I am also really looking forward to Metroid II on Virtual console as well as Metroid zero mission.

The lack of a map is frustrating by today's standards, but it was a big part of the magic back in the day. I remember making huge maps on taped together pieces of graph paper with my friends. Ah, the good old days.

You can never have too many Metroid fans. Welcome! I reccomend you buy Zero Mission, definitely my favorite 2D Metroid by far.

Good job, I still stand by the fact starting on the original is the best way to see if you can get into the series. It's smaller than the rest, the only downer is the lack of a map everyone has been coddled with since the SNES title, but if you get beyond that and just remember areas or write it down, it has all the magic of the later titles, just a few less items that got setup with the SNES game (run, grapple, bigger bombs and missiles.)

I've never been much into the Metroid series, but then again I've never really tried. I think my next VC purchase will be Super Metroid since everyone says its so good.

Super Metroid I played 13 years after release, after playing every Metroid released since Prime and half of it is pratically just Metroid Zero Mission all over again (but challenging). It has no awesome scanning, I'm still frustrated trying to 100% it right now without a walkthrough, it's half the length of Prime even after playing Prime many times (and much shorter if you know where everything is) and I've only played it twice.

Still one of the best games I've ever played and should be played by everyone who likes video games or fun in general. And should also be studied by anyone who wants to make video games on how to make an awesome video game.

Zero Mission is a better suggestion, if you can get a copy. It's the original with upgraded graphics and a map feature. Plus it's got this whole extended part at the end that's just awesome, but not particularly like the rest of the series

Speaking of Fusion, it's nice to see that the ambassadors get it.

It's a conspiracy, I tell you.

But anyway fusion isn't all that great due to it's length.
